All of the old OIFL transactions, right here!
Week 19 Update
Tucson signs (two week contracts):
T North, K Smith
They like having 26 on the roster, and they have two holes.
Week 16 Update
San Antonio cuts:  J Johnson
At this time there is no line for "Fort Dodge signs:  J Johnson."
Week 15 Update
Fort Dodge signs:  L McKay, J King
This is the second straight Rattler OS sent off that the Riders picked up (Corey Fleming)
New England cuts:  S Farson
Well, that was obvious.
Week 13 Update
Texas signs (two week contract):  R Williams
Williams has had a long and pretty good career.
Long Island cuts:  T Beistel
26 men is 26 men, Beistel could find a job elsewhere.
Kansas City cuts:  R Tyus, J Schmotzer; signs T Jacobs
Jacobs knows the system there, it's a good fit.
London cuts:  R Greene
Greene got caught up in a numbers game.
Week 12 Update
Eugene signs (4 week contract):  J Elam
Well, they needed a kicker with Cottle out.  Elam's one of the best historically, so he'll help awhile.  He's done this before in 2011, too.
Evansville gets:  S Nelson, LA E1, DET E5
D.C. gets:  S Kramer
It's a hefty price, but the Conspiracy think they have something special, so they'll pay it.
Los Angeles gets:  M Otis, C Bruce, K Vidoteca, C Wier
Kansas City gets:  CC E2, D Madray, G Tiebach, A Geddinger, C Goergen
I guess I just don't understand the angle here.
Kansas City gets:  E Chappelle
Eugene gets:  $1M, CC E2
Chappelle's overpriced, but KC has the ability to do that for now.
Week 11 Update
This is the next to last week you can make trades!
Atlanta gets:  J Kershner, J Gunn
Vancouver Island gets:  G Krass, A Weissman
Gunn never got to the #2 job in Nanaimo, so he needed to go.  Atlanta got rid of Krass, too.
Detroit gets:  TB E1, I Gillian, A Fernandez
Long Island gets:  TB E4, R Logiovino, J Bradley, T Beistel
A little surprised the 7-3 team is the one building for tomorrow in this deal.
Los Angeles gets:  J Mouton, W Berry, CC E2
Corpus Christi gets:  K Patton
Norfolk gets:  P Govan
It might be too little too late for a cup run, but Patton IS the true #1 WR the Storm need.
Norfolk gets:  C Soludo, B James, EUG E2
Los Angeles gets:  N Whittington, J Peacock
Really, dumping Whittington in that Hutch trade was what started LA down this "we must win now" path…and when they didn't, it spiraled.
St. Louis cuts:  G Rodriquez
Rodriquez is useless at this level anymore.
North Dakota cuts:  R Iseman, D Jacques
North Dakota signs:  P Hines, D Butel
Not sure doing this earlier would've saved the season, but it'd have helped.
Week 10 Update
Eugene gets:  M Saunders
Portland gets:  L Ariaco, NOR E2
Saunders is going to help a lot with Smith out.
Long Island cuts:  B Dockery
He's one of those "wait, he's still working?!" guys.  Well, he was.
Atlanta signs:  M Giguere
Atlanta cuts:  J Jackson
It's all backup fodder here, but any little upgrade is an upgrade Atlanta needs.
Detroit gets:  J Shidecker
Portland gets:  DET E1, VAN E2
Pioneers continuing the rebuild, while Detroit gets back an old friend from the Vegas days.
Eugene gets:  M White, A James, W Soto
Los Angeles gets:  D Hensel, N Nash, D Madray, C Mays, WIS E1, EUG E1, EUG E2, NOR E4, EUG E5
I'm just not sure on this deal for the Predators.  Just not feeling it.  If they traded old pieces, that's one thing - but you just gave Eugene two stars for older guys…
Colin doesn't even like draft picks!  Eugene is now loaded, though.  They get hurt with the loss of picks, but Christian has just created an OIFLCup Contender.
Week 9 Update
San Antonio cuts:  L McKay, T Rallings
McKay's had a strong career, stronger than it should have been…he's probably done, though.
London cuts:  J King
King's a guy who's had a LONG career…is it over?
San Antonio gets:  D Caruther, O Vernon, V Ollie, T Jones, FD E2, LA E2, CHI E4, FD E4
Fort Dodge gets:  T Hickey, P Street
Blockbuster.  Roughriders are playing for keeps now.  After cutting back financially, they have a better team, and now they're playing for more than a playoff berth.
D.C. gets:  DET E3, DET E5
Detroit gets:  J Asebodo
Asebodo will help them quite a bit.
Kansas City gets:  D Martin
Portland gets:  $120K
Pioneers needed to get rid of someone, and Kansas City is trying to stockpile talent.
D.C. cuts:  R Shore
Shore had no place anymore with other moves made.
Portland gets:  $50K
Venice gets:  L O'Neil
O'Neil is no star, but he's an experienced guy who can still step in if needed.
Atlanta cuts;  B Schaub
Schaub's been up and down with the Lunatics a few times now.
OIFL All-Star Classic Week Update
San Antonio gets:  K Pung, TEX E4
London gets:  SA E2
Pung's getting a little long in the tooth, but he's going to help the Rattlers.  They don't care about draft rounds after E1 anyways (yes, they got Shelton Warren, but were never all
that happy with his performance, so sleepers mean little to Dylan).
Chicago signs:  M Thompson
He's got a lot of work to do to be a good OIFL player, but he has talent, and Chicago needs that.
London gets:  N Bianco
Chicago gets:  LON E3, $300K
Bianco doesn't exactly replace Pung, but it's good to get another given London only has 4 OLDL before this trade.
Texas gets:  T Doxen, M MacDonald, R Warrick, A Burkett
Long Island gets:  J Baez, A Reyeb, C Peach, J Sheets, J Elam (subsequently cut)
I'm trying to wrap my head around where this actually helps Texas.  I'm just not seeing it.  MacDonald is not an upgrade.  Burkett surely is not an upgrade.  And Doxen doesn't help
them, either.  Long Island took a huge step in their rebuild here.  TEX absolutely has to see Doxen find the fountain of youth for this to work.
London gets:  J Seton, TB E2, D d'Andrea
Kansas City gets:  C Bruce, A Sandler, $200K
Bruce is the long-term piece, and Sandler's a guy who can play for the Tigers right now.  They're 0-8, but they are still alive for the OIT.
Cedar Valley gets:  TUC E4
London gets:  T Olivares
And this makes up for LON for the Pung trade…but if you're just going to deal for Olivares, why give Pung away for a mid pick?
Long Island gets:  EUG E4, E5, A Bellamy
San Antonio gets:  LON E2, DC E3, J Baez
The Rattlers said this past offseason after they had to gut everything "sure, laugh at us now, but we're going to win again."  Losing Bellamy will hurt, but the Rattlers are built on the line.
Cedar Valley gets:  D Sin, J Blackburn, STL E5
Kansas City gets:  M Mauller, D Wingate
Wingate's a better player than Blackburn (but not by a whole lot).  Sin's better than Mauller probably now and tomorrow, but KC doesn't figure they'll win with average players.
Week 8 Update
Corpus Christi gets:  J Salas, E3, E5
Norfolk gets:  W Pratch, J Mouton
Norfolk's quietly getting to be a pretty good team here, but I don't see where this deal helps them.
St. Louis signs:  B Speedfreak, W Zjoe
Goodness, Bob Speedfreak found a job.
Los Angeles gets:  B Schmidt, WIS E5
Vancouver Island gets:  T Babthorpe, WIS E3
Schmidt is the better player, so LA gets this one.
Atlanta gets:  F Lakha
Vancouver Island gets:  ATL E4, DET E4, F Delighten
Delighten's just a bridge to the pile of E1s the Blitz have.
Corpus Christi signs:  M Fischer
He's not a long-term solution at all.
Long Island gets:  H Blessig, S Weisgarber
San Antonio gets:  FM E1, VEN E1, D Ladd, C Stanley
Painful, yes, but those two probably weren't resigning in San Antonio anyways, and the Rattlers are getting a lot of good picks.
London gets:  MON E2, B Rodgers, J King
Long Island gets:  D MacClellan, TB E1, VEN E5, $560K
MacClellan is a guy who can really be a veteran, calming, influence on Gary Blackwell, who has gotten frazzled before.  London will really like Rodgers.
Fort Dodge cuts:  E Smith
This is the end of the road for Ed Smith.
Los Angeles gets:  M Ruddick
Long Island gets:  LON E2, E3
Ruddick's getting older, but he's going to help LA a lot.
Los Angeles cuts:  J Zie
Zie was their "kicker of the future," and then they realized they don't need a "kicker of the future."
Kansas City gets:  L Bullocks
Baltimore gets:  R Jenkins, G Flynn
Balto's always had a knack for having a weird mix of players and doing well, but this is a little strange.
Kansas City gets:  J Conner
Vancouver Island gets:  D Marquardt, three E4s, two E3s
The Blitz are positioning for the four E1s they'll have next year.  Losing Conner still hurts.
Kansas City signs:  J Haller, R Niemeyer
Kansas City cuts:  T Jacobs, F Scallia
Look for more of this out of the Tigers in the coming weeks.
Long Island signs:  B Dockery (2 week contract)
Mean Machine trying to see if Dockery has anything left in the tank.
Norfolk cuts:  T Cormier
Cormier may find work, but he's probably done.
Chicago cuts:  J Napierala
He's had a better career than he probably should, but this is about the end here.
St. Louis cuts:  A Satterfield
Same as above, I'd say.
Long Island signs:  J Zie
Long Island cuts:  L Moore
This isn't soccer.
Kansas City signs:  R Tyus, S Masterson
These guys might be something they can build on long-term
Week 7 Update
London gets:  T Mack, DC E4
D.C. gets:  B Chopko, LA E1, VEN E2, S Nelson
Well, last week's trade was useless then…
Fort Dodge gets:  D Schlosser
Long Island gets:  $150K
Probably feels nice for the Riders to be able to pay for a player again.
Kansas City gets:  TB E2, VI E3, F Scallia, T Jacobs
Vancouver Island gets:  F Lakha, J Kershner
The Tigers have some major major holes to fill, and this is just a start to that.
Long Island signs:  L Moore, J King
Long Island cuts:  R Niemeyer
Hey, Juan King got a job!
Kansas City signs:  N Olson
He's going to build into something someday.
St. Louis gets:  P Woods
Kansas City gets:  E3,4,5
Woods has something left in the tank, while that's three sleeper shots for KC, the Rush did fine.
Long Island gets:  POR E1, K Vogler, R Cabell
Minneapolis gets:  D Eisenhart, L James
All things considered, the Mean Machine here got all they were going to get out of Eisenhart.  Minneapolis gets its favorite son back.
Venice gets:  L Martin
Kansas City gets:  $150K
Martin has a bit in the tank, while KC certainly won't be competitive while Martin is still useful.
Atlanta signs:  B Schaub
Atlanta cuts:  M Cain
Schaub has some experience in the ATL system, so it works.
Vancouver Island cuts:  J Barclay
Evansville cuts:  S Masterson
You might see these two get play somewhere.
Long Island gets:  DC E3, KC E5, $360K, T Doxen
D.C. gets:  J Enderle
Getting rid of Enderle is always nice, but Doxen would be better suited on a contender.
Week 6 Update
Wisconsin gets:  H Simpson
Vancouver Island gets:  B Schmidt, D Stephens, KC E4, $150K
Blitz negotiating from a backup position of strength, didn't do bad here.
Vancouver Island gets:  EVL E3, WIS E5, $100K
Evansville gets:  S Fox
This deal kind of parlays down the road, but it's with cash, and as such the Blitz could have done better for Fox.
London signs:  A LaPetri
Yeah, a fourth quarterback makes sense here.
D.C. signs: W Mickey
six-week deal, Mickey gets a shot to keep in the league.
Wisconsin signs:  O Patterson
Patterson isn't going to do much, but he won't have to.
Evansville signs:  M Edminster
Edminster's got something in the tank.  Geno will get everything he can out of him.
Cedar Valley gets:  DC E2, $250K
Vancouver Island gets:  M Haas
Great deal for the Blitz here, Haas will help them a bunch down the road.
Norfolk gets:  A McDaniel, N Castiello
Vancouver Island gets:  L Roberts, S Ness
McDaniel's expensive, but money isn't a problem for Norfolk.  It works.
London gets:  B Chopko, M Taylor, LA E1
D.C. gets:  D Calderon, R Bush
Well, Chopko won't stay long.
London signs:  R Greene
Greene's had a longer career than someone of his talent level might otherwise have, and here he goes again.
Vancouver Island gets:  J Barclay, ND E5
Long Island gets:  A Fernandez
I know the Blitz wanted out from under Fernandez.  I don't think that contract would've killed them, though.
Week 5 Update
Los Angeles gets:  J Tobin, EVL E1
Evansville gets:  P Rogers, NOR E1
Tobin's a guy who has never performed to the level the Squirrels demand their players perform.  A change in scenery is probably welcome on both sides.
Los Angeles gets:  C Goergen, LON E2
London gets:  D Calderon
Calderon fits their backup RB role just fine, but this is a gross overpay for his services.
Los Angeles gets:  G Tiebach, G Rauls, 200K, WIS E3 (then cuts D White)
Wisconsin gets:  L Williams
Tobin clearly replaces Williams; the Warlords make a big statement with one little move.  A couple more and everyone has to worry.
Wisconsin signs:  T Grayson
Week 4 Update
Long Island signs:  J Barclay, R Niemeyer
Long Island cuts:  C Kilano
The Mean Machine can't really afford injuries, but this is what they're gonna have to live with as they get 'em.
Atlanta signs:  M Cain
Cain's been with the ATL already this year, so he knows what's going on there.
Texas signs:  J Elam
Elam's a long-time kicker, so it's not like there's a learning curve.  Texas kinda needs one, too.
New England signs:  S Farson (3-week deal)
You can always ask players to waive the cut penalty.
D.C. signs:  R Shore
Shore's got a fair amount of OIFL experience.
Chicago gets:  B Rivera, O Linton, $300K
London gets:  P Rose, E3
London wanted to get rid of Linton as he's not a great RB (more of a DS-type with offensive work to be done).  They needed a LB.  While losing Rivera hurts long-term
development, this deal did what the Monarchs needed it to do.
Week 3 Update
So I forgot about the TV and radio money.  So it's there now.
Long Island signs:  Geoff
Not sure how he helps a team win in 2011, but I don't ask questions anymore.
Venice signs:  M Thomas
Venice cuts:  W Mickey
OK, so Thomas doesn't bring much to the table anymore.  At least he's not a backup kicker.
Week 2 Update
D.C. signs:  B Rozier
D.C. cuts:  T Adgate
Rozier has a better future than Adgate, but a team needing a 7th lineman with experience will probably look at TA.
Fort Dodge cuts:  K Morriss
Fort Dodge signs:  T Bayfield
Also an example; the amnesty cut is still available.
Venice signs:  R Herrera
May as well bump it up to 26 on the roster.
Kansas City signs:  J Seton
Lysoby does what he does.
Corpus Christi signs:  M Cranston, F McNeil
Both of these guys give valuable depth and experience.  Now the Storm won't totally freak if McPherson goes down.
OIFL Season Opening Update
North Dakota cuts:  B Bolgrien, C Morton, J Lucas, S Watt, V LaGrange, U Thomas, B Yanagi
This team isn't looking that strong; I think I'd have dumped some older salary over the rookies here.  Some of these guys will get jobs.
Eugene gets:  $1M at end of year, $25K immediately
Portland gets:  N Chiricosta, E Cohen, J Tate
Strange trade for Portland; I guess they need depth, but I wouldn't think this pile is worth a million.
Norfolk cuts:  H Keester
Keester has a really tiny outside shot at finding a job…and even then, I'm not sure the league's stance on players picking up trash.
Fort McMurray cuts:  A Ogden, M Golsen, Geoff, L Paulson, C Dionisio, P Marntos, D Love
The Fatmen were worried about their cuts.  I don't know why.  These guys wouldn't start for the 2006 Caps.
Atlanta cuts:  M Thomas
Sorry Matt.
Venice cuts:  J Blackburn
Blackburn is probably at the end of his personal OIFL journey, too.
St. Louis signs:  M Trask; cuts:  T Dempsey
They have always needed depth help; this should do a little.
Atlanta gets:  J Carper, S Peyton, ND E2, DET E4, $250K
Detroit gets:  R Auger, T Gialluca, M Betts, ATL E5
Carper's very possible to start in the ATL, while Detroit wonders if Auger (pronounced ojay) could be their next QB since Druck.
Montreal cuts:  B Reeves, T Clark, J Lyons, K Powers, K Anthony, T Grayson, J Emrick
Congrats, you all have just been cut by Mike Burmeister.  No, friends, that little flashy thing from MIB is not real.
Omaha cuts:  M Fisher, P Rawlins
Yeah, maybe Rawlins?
Tucson cuts:  M Singh
Sometimes the 26-man is rough.
Tampa Bay cuts:  B Speedfreak, J Brooks, S Farson
Speedfreak's a very fringe HOF candidate, but he may find another job.
Long Island gets:  D Alexander, B Rodgers, BAL E1
Baltimore gets:  M Bell, C Rhea
Baltimore's quietly building a pretty solid team here.
Tucson gets:  H Reiss, L Quick
Long Island gets:  LI E1, LI E2, B Christoff, A Burkett
The Mean Machine are (smartly) setting themselves up for the future by getting rid of the exceptional salary they have.
Portland signs:  M Singh, J Lucas, B Yanagi
Portland cuts:  M Ahmed, B Dockery, E Cohen, R Tyus, L Moore
A couple of these guys could make rosters elsewhere.
Chicago cuts:  B Warhurst, N Olson, E Perlo, T Revedo, J Seton, R Herrera, J Johnson, J Cain, C Eastmond
It would take a significant confluence of events for any of these guys to find work.
Detroit gets:  K Hopkins, DET E5
Long Island gets:  C Stanley, $100K if that E5's a sleeper
Hopkins just feels like a Dennis Marr type of player.
Detroit cuts:  M Betts, B Schaub, K Wolfram, A Davis, C Wente, R Cabreda, J Alexander
The end of the line for one of the OIFL's all-time greats, John Alexander (while very quiet) is a clear hall of fame player.
Kansas City signs:  J Blackburn, P Rawlins, C Dionisio
Kansas City cuts:  M Jacobs, T Bayfield, J Young, D Tompsett, B Fuchs, D Coleman, L Teabing
I'm sure by year's end Lysoby will have built this into a playoff team again.  Hopefully he doesn't mortgage the future this time to do it.
Evansville cuts:  P Ranke
While the Squirrels highly value veteran presence, Ranke can't help anymore.
San Antonio cuts:  M Cranston, I Fraught, A Gaydos, P Parker, B Rozier
Oh no, they lost Spiderman!
Washington cuts:  I Varner, W Yetzer, I Haze, F McNeil
There's some names in terms of guys who have played before, anyways.
Long Island gets:  I Gillian, ND E1, E3, E4, D Pollock
North Dakota gets:  FM D5, J Kennedy, B Christoff
There's something to be said about being reckless, and North Dakota fans are going to enjoy one hell of a receiving corps.
Minneapolis cuts:  K Smith
Congratulations, you've been cut by the Minneapolis Mustangs!
St. Louis cuts:  P Wells, T Schofield, J Dempsey, A McFarland, F Holderbaum, J Scringeworth
Yeah, Wells had to go.
New England cuts:  O Patterson
God this roster update's getting long.
D.C. cuts:  S Whitehead, B Beaver, A Granger
Granger's had some decent times; good problem to have.
London cuts:  T Scheer
Scheer had to go.
Cedar Valley cuts:  M Giguere
He's not going to help out here.
Norfolk gets:  C Harbaugh, $500K @ YE 2011
Venice gets:  $2,000
That's one way to save salary.
Norfolk cuts:  J Wensely
And I thought Wensely had a shot to survive.
Wisconsin cuts:  K Kimes, P Bryson, J Burnett, M Edminster, J Barclay, J Haller
Harvey's always been a guy to just keep his players because they're his players; this is a good sign.
Long Island gets:  VEN E1, ND E5, D Ellis
London gets:  R Quackenbush, ND E4
Quackenbush is a guy Steve has coveted for awhile, so I'm not surprised here.
Preseason Week 2 Update
Evansville cuts:  T Ando, M Trask
Trask *might* have a shot somewhere, while Ando's career is likely at its end.
Long Island signs:  C Kilano
Long Island cuts:  R Harpeteker
Hey, Kilano makes a good living by holding a clipboard!
Long Island gets:  FM E1, E5, DET E5, $500K, P Goodwin, D Ladd, L Quick, $500K if Street plays in a conference final.
Fort McMurray gets:  K Street, M Hoper, A Ogden, P Marntos
Great.  Boom goes the dynamite.
Now, Long Island had to make this move.  With the $$$ purge that's hit them, they have to shed a lot of salary, and they're still going to be a decent team; just no contender in 2011.
Preseason Week 1 Update
Time to change the formatting of the dates here!
Long Island gets:  future considerations ($35K between now and Week 8)
Atlanta gets:  T Bray
Bray's not going to do a whole lot for the ATL, but $35K is pretty cheap.
Atlanta cuts:  C Logan, A Richetti, M Hintze, D Carr, C Andress
I'm not a big fan of cutting the little veteran presence you have, even though Logan and Carr are clearly past their primes.
May 10, 2011 Update
Venice gets:  N Basten
Washington gets:  $200K
The Commandos can always use a little cash as the team isn't quite at a title contention just yet.
Los Angeles gets:  J Ruffin
Washington gtes:  R Willians, EUG E3
Considering LA needed a RB/LB and Washington needed a receiver to play LB (given Hice and Coulier are better DBs), this was a good two-way move.
Venice cuts:  G Elmore, T Law, M Costanzo, L Higgins
I can see some of these guys getting a shot…maybe.
Atlanta signs:  D DeLap
Yeah, this was a good pickup for a talent-starved Lunatics squad.
Omaha cuts:  R Niemeyer, J Morris
Niemeyer has a shot to catch on somewhere, maybe.
April 20, 2011 Update
Venice signs:  M Costanzo
Washington cuts:  W Thurston, D Warner, D Williamson, S McNeil
Some of these guys have a shot at getting another job.
Norfolk gets:  D Feist
Eugene gets:  E2, E4, $450K
Feist has been known as a career underachiever, but he has shutdown stuff, and the Hawks can really use that.
April 12, 2011 Update
D.C. gets:  T Doxen
Detroit gets:  C Stanley
I'm surprised Dennis would make such a move (though they *do* need to get younger).  D.C. is clearly trying to play for today.
Fort McMurray cuts:  S Morrow, G Tucker, R Shore, R Ashworth
This is the best cut list we've had, but there's still no guarantee any of them find work.
Wisconsin signs:  J Barclay
This claim came in within six hours of the posting that he'd been cut.  As I had expected.
Tucson cuts:  E Brooks
Brooks just wasn't good enough.
Washington gets:  T Richmond
Tucson gets:  $500K
Richmond still has a little in the tank, but Washington better not expect him to be a veteran influence to help the young guys.
London gets:  A Rodgers, OMA E4
Omaha gets:  WIS E2, H Koga
OK…how does this deal make sense for either team?  A top-5 draft pick being dumped for an E2 and another E2?  And then London…YOU DON'T NEED A YOUNG QUARTERBACK!
D.C. signs:  B Beaver, T Adgate
Adgate has very little in the tank, but he's going to help them deep on the bench.
Baltimore gets:  C Gerhart
Minneapolis gets:  E2, E3
Gerhart wasn't in Minny's long-term plans, so get something that could be!
Baltimore cuts:  R Greene, F Purk, A Gillatt, H Tucker
Greene's a long time Breaker, but it was time to go.  Purk I'm not so sure I agree with.
April 7, 2011 Update
Long Island cuts:  K Sick, J Barclay, A LaPetri, A Shipman, R Moesly
Moesly has the "distinction" of twice being an amnesty cut…LaPetri is the first 20 to subsequently get cut, too.
D.C. gets:  M Cribbs, C Rieves
Chicago gets:  J Cornell, K Cruise, J Rothwell, R McMasters, $100K
Cribbs is now a premier #1 target again for sure as DC has no other OS at his level…and he has Dan Jackson throwing to him!
London gets:  A Sandler
Kansas City gets:  D d'Andrea
Now, while the Tigers don't save a whole lot of cash, they do get younger.  London gets a guy that, while he's on the back nine, he can still bring it at a position of need.
Tucson gets:  W Mitchell
Tampa Bay gets:  A Calp, R Dawson, FD E1
Now, yes, Mitchell was TB's best lineman, but they have other really good linemen, they now have more depth, and the FD E1 could be worth something, too.
April 5, 2011 Update
Long Island cuts:  J Miggs, C Anthony
Miggs has been in the OIFL forever, but you have to think it's over.
Long Island gets:  T Bray
Kansas City gets:  $35K
Long Island shouldn't really be adding payroll and paying cash, but if they want to, that's their prerogative.
Fort McMurray cuts:  C Brinkerhoff
Doubt the "reigning punter of the year" gets another job.
Minneapolis signs:  J Wehrle
Really, that's your last big step towards a title?
Tucson gets:  J Hay
Venice gets:  J Blackburn
Hay's old but still good.  While I'd have loved to see him finish his career "home," Tucson's not a bad consolation prize.
Evansville cuts:  K Nelson, D Hughes, G Spradlin, S Scruggs, B Mannion, A Carlton, R Stevens, R Bagby
Hughes has played, but I don't see much here that will be on anyone's 26-man.
Atlanta cuts:  P Sozos
He was an outside shot to make the team anyways.
Eugene cuts:  R Meunier, J Kramer, J Salko, L Sweigart, J Emmanuel-Thomas, M Costanzo, I Richman, A Westenberger, J Wilshire, D McCloud, J Feyers
A couple of these guys could find jobs, but it'll be tough going.
Los Angeles gets:  R Hutchinson, W Soto, E1, $750K at Week 8
Norfolk gets:  F Porter, N Whittington
Hutch may fit what LA wants to do this week, I guess?  Whittington is going to be a stud for the Hawks.
Kansas City gets:  B Reilly, E4
New England gets:  J Paul
About damn time they rebuild.  You're welcome!
Fort McMurray gets:  L Terry, $400K at Week 8
Kansas City gets:  E4, D Marquardt, F Lakha
Terry's a guy that can still bring it for the Fatmen, while Marquardt will be almost assuredly a starter in Kansas City right away.
Kansas City gets:  D Sin, $250K
D.C. gets:  B Chopko, R Odolfo
Sometimes painful decisions have to be made in a rebuild.  Sin is going to be good down the line, though.
Training Camp update
Tampa Bay cuts:  W Zjoe, T North, J Brooks
Both of these cuts were before camp; they're eligible to be signed.
Fort Dodge cuts:  M Pasqua, N Rivers
Both of these cuts were before camp; they're eligible to be signed.
Tucson cuts:  J Czernak, S Tiafau, P Sideris, A Rahim, M Hartman, D Amodio, N Brandt, J Tucker, D Sheets, A Luk, S Rivera
Hartman's been on rosters before, but I don't see any signings here.
Corpus Christi cuts:  D Stranck, C Hanley, R Holloman, B Jordan, B Justice, J Tornatore, A Barrio
Yeah, there's nothing here.
London cuts:  B Compton, P Welty, R McFarran, R Boston, D DeLap, W Worthington, K Lampert, P Marino
DeLap had one real shot this camp to become a "legit" OIFLer, and he didn't do it.
Rocky Mountain cuts:  K McGregor, Z Quammen, W Wilson, S Young, W McElroy, B Etienne
Wow, there are a lot of kickers that suck here.
Kansas City cuts:  O Hatch, D Zelling
Zelling can find work still.
March 5, 2011 Update
And so the roster moratorium begins!
Long Island signs:  K Sick, C Anthony, J Miggs, P Marntos, L James
St. Louis signs:  D McFarland, F Holderbaum, T Schofield
Los Angeles cuts:  C Horne, J Wehrle
I'm a little surprised Wehrle got cut here.
San Antonio cuts:  J Barros, K Bartley, D Madine
Nothing much here.
Norfolk cuts:  B Joerg, R Long, L Belardo
Wheeeee!
St. Louis gets:  2012 STL E3
Fort McMurray gets:  R Gibson
Very good trade for the Fatmen to deal a 3 for a guy who could start.
Atlanta signs:  M Betts
Chicago gets:  B Briggs
Fort Dodge gets:  2012 E4
Roughriders making moves to shore up the money after making moves to shore up the team…and Chicago needed a kicker.
Kansas City gets:  R Odolfo, L Jackson
Fort Dodge gets:  R Brownings, TUC E5
Brownings is a key piece to a Roughriders team that could be winning now…
Kansas City gets:  L Terry, $300K
Los Angeles gets:  D Calderon
Yeah, so LA doesn't really need Terry, and Calderon fills a need for a lot less cash.  OK.
Montreal gets:  G Norman
Long Island gets:  E2, E5
Norman wasn't staying in LI as the cash is just too good…now can he bring some magic to a Montreal team that's gonna need it?
Fort McMurray cuts:  T Combs, T Bond, B Beaver, L d'Arco
Beaver coulda helped in camp, but they didn't lose much.
Kansas City gets:  J Kershner, R Myatt
D.C. gets:  $300K, E5
Did not KC need the cash?
February 27, 2011 Update
Detroit cuts:  B Holden, C Borrello, M Phillips
Is this the end of the line for Manny Phillips?  I say "not yet."  But I wouldn't be shocked if it were.
Detroit gets:  J Carper
Washington gets:  F McNeil, M Salinas
Carper's a guy the Gladiators have some knowledge of here.
Corpus Christi gets:  E6-25
Fort Dodge gets:  $2K
Atlanta cuts:  C Kilano, G Hoyt
I thought Kilano would stick around a little longer, as he's had a long career as a backup, but Atlanta didn't agree.
Wisconsin gets:  D Alexander
Rocky Mountain gets:  $100K
Backup OS' aren't worth much in the OIFL.
Evansville gets:  2012 E5
Wisconsin gets:  R Andrews
Andrews may well be the kicker when we kick off the 2011 campaign in Wisconsin.  Yeah, he's a kicker, but if you get a starter with an E5, you do it.
London cuts:  T Smith, F Greco, C Bender
Wheeeeeee!
Kansas City gets:  $600K
Wisconsin gets:  $550K after week 4, T Knight
Older players have about as much value as backup OS'…
D.C. gets:  J Asebodo, R McMasters
Detroit gets:  G Jones
Gladiators are always thinking defense first - this is nothing new.
D.C. gets:  E Cramer
Cedar Valley gets:  M Hodge
Hodge is older, but better.
D.C. gets:  J Cornell, 2012 LA E1, $870K
Texas gets:  J Spellmen, A Reyeb, A Adama
Conspiracy are wheeling and dealing - does this make them a contender in the NFC-East?
St. Louis signs:  J Cant
It's probably a camp contract, but Cant wants to see if he has anything left in the tank.
Kansas City signs:  D Calderon, D Zelling
They're just holding firm until they can get some younger talent down the line here.  Both of these guys have played a lot.
February 23, 2011 Update
Corpus Christi gets:  E6-15
Tampa Bay gets:  $10K
Tucson cuts:  M Betts, T Whitmer, B Daly, D Baut, H Feldman

London gets:  $10K
Corpus Christi gets:  E6-24
Tucson gets:  $15K
Corpus Christi gets:  E6-27, E6-30
Really, the Storm do need depth - but I'd want depth that can play!
Tucson gets:  $80K
London gets:  E6-6, E6-13
Apparently seeing what CC paid isn't registering.
Washington gets:  D Centerfield
D.C. gets:  J Kershner, A Adama
Straight-up deal for the most part.
New England cuts:  L James, P Hines, D Zelling, S Casey, D Calderon
Sno-Dogs are trying to cut some of the old fat.  Surprised they didn't make camp, but that's how it goes sometimes.
Detroit cuts:  K Tempel
Vancouver Island cuts:  B Strayhorn, A Ramsey, J Walford, M Randall, D Butel
Butel had a good career, but I think it's about over.
February 20, 2011 Second Update
I had a few minutes and there were a lot of picks, OK?
London gets:  $275K, E6-24, future considerations (K Pung after training camp)
Eugene gets:  D McCloud, J King, J Feyers, M Thompson, L Adama, E Cohen
Dude, I only put each team's camp on one sheet of paper.
Montreal gets:  M Harvan
Eugene gets:  E5-27, E5-31
Montreal wants something that can give them something now.  Now to figure out what Harvan actually gives them…
February 20, 2011 Update
Tucson cuts:  B Cameron
They're gonna go with a younger kicker, apparently.
Eugene gets:  A Westenberger, J Wilshire
Vancouver Island gets:  $60K
Well, it's better than just cutting them.
Texas gets:  K Harbaugh, B Jones
Chicago gets:  T Cadet, P Rose, $500K
The Miners desperately needed to get a quarterback, and Cadet is actually pretty good.
Tucson cuts:  R Murphy, G Taft, D McFarland
They can't take 80 to camp, I guess.
February 17, 2011 Update
Washington gets:  $750K
Tucson gets:  E4-24, 28, 29, 30, E5-3, 25, E6-2
Well, it took him long enough.
Tucson gets:  S Tiafau
Vancouver Island gets:  $75K
Tucson going for camp fodder here.
February 15, 2011 Update
Kansas City gets:  R Jenkins

KC fills a backup hole here.
Tucson gets:  E3-30, 2012 LI E3
Vancouver Island gets:  2012 TB E2
Tucson just going for more players this year.
London gets:  2012 VEN E1, 2012 WIS E2
Venice gets:  N Haze
London doesn't have a huge need for the young DS, and Venice gets a piece they do need.
London gets:  2012 E3, D Simpson
Los Angeles gets:  J Porter, $150K, E4-26, E6-12
Basically a swap of OS' that don't fit one system and do fit the other.
London gets:  E4-21
New England gets:  $200K
NE just cashing out after getting who they wanted later.
February 12, 2011 Update
San Antonio gets:  R Frazier, L Czarniecki, $200K
London gets:  E3-17, E6-1, D d'Andrea
Rattlers trying to get some depth back.
Detroit gets:  $750K
Rocky Mountain gets:  E3-14
Reign spent quite a bit to get a whole lot of nothing.
Tucson gets:  E3-16, E4-12, E4-23, E5-1, E5-8, E6-13, 2012 E1, 2012 LI E1 & E2
Fort Dodge gets:  R June, M Horowitz
The Roughriders scream they aren't rebuilding.  Why?  I don't know; they just did…
Rocky Mountain gets:  E3-16
Tucson gets:  $750K
Reign did the same thing again.  They say they're done buying picks.
Vancouver Island gets:  $150K, 2012 MON E3
London gets:  E3-21
London, however, isn't done buying picks.
London gets:  E3-23
D.C. gets:  $150K
And we see it once more.
February 9, 2011 Update
Vancouver Island gets:  J Gunn, E4-16
Eugene gets:  T Clements
Now there's no real worry if Damon Owens gets hurt.
February 8, 2011 Update
London gets:  E3-4
Chicago gets:  T Hatherly, $250,000
Sure, it looks bad now since London got a sleeper (Chi got $100K extra for it), but Chicago got a legitimate player for an E3.  They did fine.
Evansville gets:  E3-19, E5-12
London gets:  D MacClellan
And to think this guy was once the clear-cut #1 quarterback in the OIFL Entry Draft, a guy who had superstar written all over him.
Long Island signs:  R Moesly, R Harpeteker
Moesly still has a little in the tank, I think.
February 3, 2011 Update
Cedar Valley gets:  E2-9, 2012 TEX E2
London gets:  E2-14, 15
Fair deal both ways.
DC gets:  E2-16, $200K
Tucson gets:  E2-11
DC will probably get who they really wanted anyways, so a double win.
Portland gets:  L O'Neil, D Jackson
Rocky Mountain gets:  E2-12
This works, I suppose.
February 2, 2011 Nighttime Update
Los Angeles gets:  E2-7, E2-29
Montreal gets:  A Murphy, T Stallworth
Hm, might be a stiff price to pay for what amounts to two sleeper shots.
Kansas City gets:  W Slevin, $125K
Venice gets:  2012 WIS E2
Slevin is a guy the Tigers can build into something.
Montreal gets:  H Wyandt, T Bruttenholm
London gets:  E3-7, 2012 E1, E3
Okay then.  I guess neither team liked their QB…
Detroit gets:  $75K
Kansas City gets:  D Tompsett
These are the trades that can build a team from a middling playoff team to a title winner, if they can develop the young guys.
Montreal gets:  T Grayson, E5-18
Detroit gets:  E4-32, E5-7
Montreal gets something that's kind of like a sure thing in exchange for one sleeper shot, basically.  Ish.
February 2, 2011 Update
London gets:  E3-12, E3-19, E5-11, 2012 LI E2
Fort Dodge gets:  E2-18, E2-20, $100K if any of those picks hits a sleeper.
I'm not sure what Fort Dodge is trying to do.
Minneapolis cuts:  M White
This is an amnesty cut.
Minneapolis gets:  Q Ammons, $250K
Tucson gets:  E2-2, E4-25
A stellar deal for the Mustangs there; Ammons is legit.
January 31, 2011 Update
Kansas City gets:  E6-32
Cedar Valley gets:  T Olivares
Under most circumstances, I'd think Lysoby got screwed…but teams aren't trading for old guys anymore.  This was a great deal for CV, but a needed one for KC.
January 30, 2011 Update
D.C. cuts:  B Greenwald, R Johnson
They're just not very useful anymore.
Kansas City gets:  C Stanley, L Martin, 2012 WIS E2, 2012 KC & TUC E5
Texas gets:  J Cornell
Tigers still rebuilding things up.
Long Island gets:  K Hopkins, A Shipman
Kansas City gets:  $20K
Tigers still getting the age away here.
Kansas City gets:  W Yetzer
D.C. gets:  C Stanley
Stanley doesn't fit what the Tigers really wanted.
Tampa Bay gets:  E1-5
Tucson gets:  E1-10, 2012 TB E2
I don't like this for Tucson, but they got who they'd have taken anyways.
London gets:  E1-10, E2-18
Tucson gets:  E1-6
And that's why…
London gets:  2012 TB E1
Tampa Bay gets:  M Blevins
Raise your hands if you thought Tampa Bay would trade an E1 for a running back.  Liar.
January 15, 2011 Update
Long Island cuts:  C Berrenta
Los Angeles cuts:  C Kilano, G Wilson
Kansas City signs:  L Teabing, T Bray
Kansas City cuts:  R Williams, S Walters, R Moesly (amnesty), M Razorman
They're finally realizing you have to get younger to truly rebuild.  Let's see if it lasts…
Omaha cuts:  M Hines, K Chudobiack
Kansas City gets:  T Bayfield
Long Island gets:  $25K
Kansas City gets:  G Flynn
Rocky Mountain gets:  Z Quammen
I guess RM thought nothing of Flynn to trade him for camp fodder.
Eugene gets:  $50K
Kansas City gets:  M Lansdale
This is the best of the KC trades here.
Kansas City gets:  $15K
Texas gets:  J Sheets
Venice signs:  M O'Donnell
Fort Dodge gets:  C Bryant, D Caruther, L Jackson, R Kreig, E3-12, E3-19, E6-25
Portland gets:  E1-11, E1-19, E1-28, E2-12, E2-24, E2-34
Portland decided they were not a championship team, and made the appropriate move to rebuild.  Fort Dodge decided inflated contracts was what they were best at, I guess.
January 11, 2011 Update
Detroit gets:  T Grayson
DC gets:  R Myatt
Yep, this is an all-timer…
Los Angeles gets:  G Briggs, $1M @ Week 8, 16
Fort Dodge gets:  V Nostran, 2012 LA E2, $3.5M
Nostran just isn't that much worse than Briggs to forego solving your financial disaster and getting an E2 next year.
Baltimore signs:  H Boden
Kansas City signs:  A Shipman, Z Quammen
Los Angeles signs:  J Wehrle
San Antonio signs:  T Rallings, I Fraught
Portland signs:  B Dockery
Long Island signs:  A Ogden
Baltimore cuts:  M Lee, T Bray, J Quinn
Eugene cuts:  M Rogers
Fort McMurray cuts:  L Teabing
Rocky Mountain cuts:  J Young, R Curry
Portland cuts:  B Lane
January 8, 2011 Update
Fort Dodge gets:  T Jones
D.C. gets:  E3-23
D.C. gives up an all-time great that still has something in the tank…FD needs to find a way to give him a raise, though, as he ain't gonna play for $32K a year.
January 6, 2011 Update
Another year, another dollar.
Eugene gets:  A Malifa
Venice gets:  J Brockson
An interesting trade, as many of ours usually are.
After I get back update
Well, for Christmas from the OIFL, it appears I got a bunch of training camp group players before they get cut to put on rosters!
Kansas City gets:  D3-14
Baltimore gets:  H Tucker
The D3's a throw in for Balto to get a throw-in player they used to have back.
Fort McMurray gets:  D3-30, 31
Long Island gets:  T Dean, $100K
Fatmen are still looking for some help on their roster, and maybe something will be there?
Portland gets:  D Caruther
Eugene gets:  M Harvan, E3-20,22
Caruther is the best player in this deal, but he is severely limited defensively.
Portland gets:  $100K
Tucson gets:  D3-25
Tucson wants camp fodder.
Tucson gets:  D3-22
St. Louis gets:  E6-18
Both teams have different goals for what they want out of late picks.
December 23, 2010 Update
To all a Merry Christmas and to all a Happy New Year!
December 22, 2010 Update
North Dakota gets:  $170K
Texas gets: D 2-30
Okay then…
December 21, 2010 Update
North Dakota gets:  D Jacques, D2-30, E6-17
Texas gets:  D2-23
Texas gave up a little bit, I guess, but they wanted a certain all-time great running back to really show Cox how to be a great player.
Minneapolis gets:  P Benney, $600K
Venice gets:  A Reight, 2012 E2
Benney's going to help the Mustangs more than Reight would, for sure.
Texas gets:  2012 WIS E2, 2012 TEX E5, 2012 KC E5
Vancouver Island gets:  G Peterson
Good, Blitz are finally realizing games are to be won in 2011.
December 20, 2010 Update
Fort McMurray gets:  D Vuich
Baltimore gets:  D3-14
Where Fort McMurray probably got the better player here, it's Baltimore that saves some cash.
Detroit gets:  D2-28, 2012 TB E4
Tampa Bay gets:  D2-18, W Zjoe
Tampa takes a very middling player and gives up a pick to move 10 spots up.
New England gets:  D2-24, $75K with conditions that could raise it to $150K - cash paid at year's end
Kansas City gets:  K Vidoteca
Well, it's legal unless KC is still broke by then, which if that happens may cause me to go to his place of employment holding up a sign that says "James Lysoby likes little boys."
Eugene gets:  J Brockson, D Hensel, D Caruther, 2012 E1
Wisconsin gets:  J Huff, G Tiebach, D2-16, D2-25
The Warlords are playing for keeps.  But it's not like Eugene mortgaged today for the future, either.
Long Island gets:  D3-31, M Hoper
Kansas City gets:  D2-19, M Razorman
Hoper probably still has the most left in the tank.
Kansas City gets:  J Paul, $400K
Texas gets:  D2-27, D2-30
Texas has their eye on someone, methinks.
December 18, 2010 Update
Wisconsin gets:  D2-6, D2-34
Norfolk gets:  L Arundel, D Tate, E6
I'd say the Knights get the proven commodity, but neither of those players have ever played…
Fort McMurray gets:  D2-17, D3-8, E6-4, 11, 16
Omaha gets:  $100K
Oh, that uh, that there's an RV. Yeah, yeah, I borrowed it off a buddy of mine. He took my house, I took the RV. It's a good looking vehicle, ain't it?
I mean, seriously.  Omaha has a serious depth deficiency and $15,000,000 in the bank.  So they trade depth for cash?!
Baltimore gets:  T Friedman
Vancouver Island gets:  2012 E4, $20K
Okay then…
Vancouver Island gets:  2012 E2, $75K
Wisconsin gets:  B Meisinger
So that's why Harvey texted me asking if this offer was real.
December 16, 2010 Update
I know one thing.  I'm not doing an update on December 17.
Vancouver Island gets:  2012 OMA E1, E4-9, E4-15, E5-21, $420K
London gets:  E1-6
I suppose the Vengeance did get value here, but they really have no use for the E1-6?
December 14, 2010 Update
Long Island gets:  $50K, $250K if pick is a sleeper
Tucson gets:  E6-27
LI still needs cash.
Long Island gets:  A LaPetri, D Schlosser
Atlanta gets:  J Glass, J Jackson
Jackson's buildable, but Glass is the key.  Now, Atlanta has a quarterback.
Los Angeles gets:  D1-31
Vancouver Island gets:  E1-6
This seems like a pretty good price for the Blitz.
London gets:  E1-2, E3-1
Portland gets:  E1-1, D Martin
Before you say that London was dumb, they got rid of a contract they wanted for nothing.  Portland has made it clear who they are going to draft (to LON) and it's not the same player
London wanted to draft.  So basically, everyone wins, because Portland wanted Martin for the depth.
D.C. gets:  S Harlan, K Cruise, M Taylor
Texas gets:  W Salazar, M Jacobs, C Stanley
And Harlan makes yet another move…
Long Island gets:  T Bayfield
Minneapolis gets:  $5K
Minny gets some cash for a guy they'd have cut.  Yay!
Minneapolis gets:  $200K
Portland gets:  M Hartman, L Moore, R Tyus
See above.
December 12, 2010 Update
Eugene gets:  J Huff, J Tate, E3-2, D1-30, E4-13, E4-20
Long Island gets:  D1-20, D1-23
Long Island needed a move like this to shed some payroll.
Long Island gets:  D2-19, T Worth
Detroit gets:  T Doxen, M Kenton
Detroit wants to try and get back into the contender mode rather than fringe playoff mode.  Not sure this does it.
Minneapolis gets:  L Bishop, J Waldron, E4-25, 2012 E1, $200K
Portland gets:  E1-2
Portland needs depth - they already had a pretty good collection of top players.
Vancouver Island gets:  D1-28, D1-31
Tucson gets:  D3-9, E2-18, E2-25, E6-18, E6-30
No one ever said Garrie doesn't like sleeper shots.
December 10, 2010 Update
Corpus Christi gets:  D1-14, D2-14
London gets:  R Bush, E4, $500K
This is a cost-cutting move for the Storm.
Evansville gets:  D1-22, D1-27
St. Louis gets:  D1-11
This is a trade that works very well both ways.
December 8, 2010 Update
Rocky Mountain gets:  J Cooper
Minneapolis gets:  E1-22
Apparently Johnny Lightning won't be the man when Schultz goes down?
Fort McMurray gets:  D1-8, D2-26, D2-29, D3-1, D3-29
London gets:  D1-14, D2-14, E2-12, E4-26
Pretty fair deal both ways.
December 6, 2010 Update
Fort Dodge gets:  D1-19, D3-19, $400K
Venice gets:  S Craig
The rebuild keeps going - Fort Dodge is doing a pretty good job with it, IMO.
London gets:  T Hatherly, D2-26, D2-29, D3-29
Texas gets:  T Jefferson
If it's an overpay, it's not by much, and it's because Texas wanted Jefferson back.
December 3, 2010 Update
San Antonio gets:  $3M, 2012 E4, E5
Eugene gets:  E1-17, E1-20, D1-20
The Rattlers need cash, but I'd think they'd have needed the players, too.
December 1, 2010 Update
D.C. gets:  D1-33
Los Angeles gets:  C Antai
D.C. banking that the D1-33 gets them something they need more than Antai.
Tucson gets:  E5-16
Kansas City gets:  D3-31
Just a swap - Tucson again going for sleepers.
November 30, 2010 Update
As you see, I've moved the FA players to the DD and have created an expansion draft tab.
Texas gets:  S Bollings
Tucson gets:  R June, E2-16, E4-27, E4-31
The annual Tucson rebuild beginneth in earnest.
Texas gets:  J Baez
St. Louis gets:  D1-29
Fair deal both ways.
Norfolk gets:  J Shanklin
Tucson gets:  E1-5, E3-6, E5-28
See above.
November 29, 2010 Update
Detroit gets:  J Bradley, D2-19
Venice gets:  E1-13, D1-18
Pretty straightforward deal both ways.
Tucson gets:  C Mace, B Woodcock
Kansas City gets:  T Richmond
Well, Stotts gets a couple more of his own, as the Scorpions think losing to the best team in OIFL history is a problem…apparently.
Evansville gets:  E1-13, E1-16
Venice gets:  $750K, C Coyne
Well, Evansville is as good as anyone at getting rid of stuff and getting more stuff for it.
St. Louis gets:  B Berman
Venice gets:  D1-24
Berman's a good player, but Venice wants to amass more picks to work with.
Montreal gets:  S Weeks, K Ludeman, R Lewis, S Womack, J Annette, M Fly
Los Angeles gets:  D1-7, D1-33, D2-7, E1-6
Well, that's one way to start a team.
November 24, 2010 Update
Happy Thanksgiving!
Eugene gets:  D1-23
North Dakota gets:  $700K
These are the sorts of things ND will have to do to get out of debt.
Evansville gets:  P Tuttle, $1M @ year-end, $1.5M @ year-end if no OIFLCup title
Fort Dodge gets:  $2M
Well, the Roughriders still have a lot of holes to fill, but getting some cash here for a guy who is no longer any sort of long-term solution works.
Detroit gets:  E1-8, E1-24
London gets: E1-14, E1-15
Detroit always wants the best it can get, while London thinks they can drop a bit and get what they want anyways.
November 22, 2010 Update
Kansas City gets:  $100K
Detroit gets: W Zjoe, R Myatt
I really don't see where these two help the Gladiators out much.
Long Island gets:  P Dozer, E4-13
London gets:  M Stubbs
Stubbs may be a one-way option, but he's going to provide some much needed backup to Loughman.
Vancouver Island gets:  T Clements, D Butel
Kansas City gets:  $165K
This deal makes absolutely no sense for the Vengeance.  They don't need an overpaid old WRDB, they don't need a starting quarterback to back up Sauk, either…
Eugene gets:  D2, 2012 E4, E5
Portland gets:  R Kreig, M Ahmed
Probably a fair deal.
Long Island gets:  D Eisenhart, E3-2, E4-20, $700K at end of 2011
San Antonio gets:  D d'Andrea, E1-20, 2012 DC E1/D1 (their choice)
This is probably the largest move in terms of getting SA back on their feet they could make.
Tampa Bay gets:  E1-10, E2-26
Texas gets:  M Stotts
Texas gets a true #1 threat to go with Kenneth, while the Marauders get a couple players that will help them at some point.
November 20, 2010 Update
Vancouver Island gets:  C Kendrick
Kansas City gets:  $20K
Just another on a long line of salary clearing trades, if KC is serious about solving their financial issues.
(Yesterday, KC and LI made a trade involving Butch Blast amongst others - not really sure if it did much for anyone, though)
Tucson gets:  E2-3
Detroit gets:  2012 TUC E1
A fair deal, though I'm surprised Detroit isn't going for the picks now.
November 19, 2010 Update
Venice gets:  E1-16, $1M
Los Angeles gets:  L Williams
Well, Williams is a bit of an upgrade.  Venice didn't want to pay his salary (which is fair, really).
Tampa Bay gets: W Mitchell
St. Louis gets:  R Johnsen, T Brumfield
While Mitchell is the best of the three, STL isn't exactly getting a pair of stiffs here.
D.C. gets:  E Kifer
Evansville gets:  D1-11
The Squirrels were never going to quite get value for a guy who is clearly a starting-capable DS, but was their fourth DS.  They didn't do bad, though.
Long Island gets:  E1-10, E4-31, J Glass, $350K, $300K @ TV payout, J Enderle, 2012 E1 or D1
D.C. gets:  C Stanley, M Jacobs, J Spellman, D Jackson
Jackson's a player that while he has one year left, probably, D.C. will get a pretty good year there.  Clearly the key to the deal.
Long Island gets:  M Bell, $1M
Texas gets:  E1-10, E4-31, 2012 LA E1
Good trade both ways.
Tucson gets:  D1-28
Tampa Bay gets:  M Bell
This is a pretty good overpay here - Bell's now got a two year K at 60,000 a week…that's going to be rough in 2012.
Eugene gets:  D Morgan, N Nash, K Pung, 2012 E1
Los Angeles gets:  G Wilson, B James, 2012 E3, $200K
I'm not sure this is the deal Eugene should be making, though James is expensive.
November 15, 2010 Update
Happy Veterans Day a bit late - thanks to all who serve/d!
Cedar Valley gets:  M Mauller
Kansas City gets:  E5-16
While some will complain that KC is getting "bailed out," giving up a mid E5 for a guy who will start at DS isn't bad.
Long Island gets:  $2,766,379.74, 2012 LA E1, E1-21, C Rhodes, J Jackson
Los Angeles gets:  A James, R Lewis
Lewis *is* the throw-in here, but hey, Art James is a big time pickup for the Predators.
Cedar Valley gets:  D1-4
Washington gets:  K Kline
Phantoms want a two way impact guy and should get it here; Washington wants a big time DS, and Kline should be that.
Kansas City gets:  R Brownings, D2-22
St. Louis gets:  D1-24, D1-27
Brownings accepted a 3-year deal with the Rush before this trade was made.
Evansville gets:  Comp E4, E5
Norfolk gets:  J Huaman
I think Norfolk shoulda waited until he retired, but that's just me.
Cedar Valley gets:  D1-9
Vancouver Island gets:  2012 KC E1, 2012 FM E3, 2012 RM E3, 2012 VEN E3
I think the Vengeance could've used the talent now, but hey, what do I know?
Omaha gets:  CV D2, 2012 E4
Cedar Valley gets:  M Farris
I'm not sure how I feel here - Omaha really could've used Farris again next year to help with their starting lineup, but he wanted big bucks.
Fort Dodge gets:  E1-29, $700K
London gets:  D1-12, E2-21
Fort Dodge needs to get in better financial position; this is how to do it.
London gets:  2012 E1, D1-8
Omaha gets:  D1-25, D2-1, D2-9, 2012 TUC E3, D Boll
London wants the big time player with an early D pick, and to get it Omaha will receive what could be four starters.
End of Season Update
London gets:  2012 E1
Corpus Christi gets:  P Whyel
Whyel saves London a bunch of money here.
Corpus Christi gets:  $5M
Eugene gets:  E Chappelle
Chappelle's a good player, and Eugene has excess cash to use on such endeavors.  I like this one.
D.C. gets:  A Kruse, D Sin
London gets:  O Linton, M Giguere, E5-21
DC is still trying to get their rebuild figured out, while London is trying to get their build figured out.  Not too bad either way.
Detroit gets:  J Shidecker
Portland gets:  E1-15
This is conditional on Shidecker accepting an extension.
London gets:  M Blevins
Fort Dodge gets:  $150K, H Shaw
When you're in the terrible spot financially the Riders are in, every trade to help the financial position (by YE 2011, this is a $310,000 help) is needed.  And it's not like Shaw
is that much worse than Blevins, if he even is.
Vancouver Island gets:  D1-1
London gets:  E1-8, D2-11, E2-1, E2-8
Both teams get something they want - London wants to really solve depth issues, and the newly-named Blitz want a big time player.  Good move.
Kansas City gets:  D1-27, D2-27
Los Angeles gets:  A Murphy
I haven't money-slotted D picks, so this'll be a legal trade.
Portland gets:  L Jackson, E3-24, $600K
London gets:  D Ellis, D1-28
Strange trade for Portland, I'm not sure the motive.
Texas gets:  $1M, D2-29
Rocky Mountain gets:  D Johnson
Reign want to improve their depth however they can, and this will help that.
Portland gets:  E3-12, E3-21, E3-22, E4-24
Fort McMurray gets:  S Nyer, G Boddy, $2.5M after both Week 8 and end of year 2011
Bottom line - the best player in OIFL history is getting old, and he's going to end his career the only place he should end his career.  It may not be a huge impact trade for what Boddy
can actually bring to the table come 2011, and perhaps the Fatmen did overpay a bit…but Boddy will go into the OIFL Hall of Fame some day, and he was going to be wearing a brown
jersey whether or not he came back here for what could be his last season.  This was a very good trade for the Fatmen.
Fort McMurray gets:  A Self
Cedar Valley gets:  M Thompson
The Phantoms wanted to get rid of the worst trade they've ever made, and Thompson will be a versatile backup.
Chicago gets:  J Hart, N Olson, B Warhurst
Vancouver Island gets:  $30,000 payable after 2011 Week 2
This isn't a terrible trade for the Miners, though clearly they're going to hope they don't have to lean on these three guys to win.
Atlanta gets:  F Delighten, D Schlosser
Cedar Valley gets:  $20K, payable after 2011 Week 2
Hopefully Atlanta has the cash, or the Phantoms will get two lemons back.
Cedar Valley gets:  S Warren
Texas gets:  S Slabody, G Peterson, E2-17, E2-27, E4-26
Um, next time I bet the Phantoms wait for aging to overpay for a guy who's never lived up to his billing.
Week 17 Update
Venice signs:  G Elmore
Week 16 Update
Kansas City signs:  M Mauller, C Kendrick, W Zjoe
Mauller's going to make $60,000 a week next year on top of the millions he got for being cut.  America's a great country.
St. Louis signs:  D Myers, J Kramer
Wow, that's just a ridiculos sum of money for a backup DS.
DC signs:  J Enderle
Enderle hasn't ever proven anything, but he's still going to make thousands upon thousands for it.
Evansville signs:  C Fleming, D Hughes, M Perry
They're probably all three overpays, but Evansville isn't keeping them after 2010, so it's not so bad.
Vancouver Island signs:  B High
Why, I'm not sure.
North Dakota signs:  G Gerber
Gerber's probably not worth a 3-year deal, but at least he's young and trainable.
Kansas City cuts:  J Stalker, M Hartman, R Harpeteker
This is probably the end of the road for long-time OIFLer Johnny Stalker.
DC cuts:  J King
King will find work somewhere.
North Dakota cuts:  B Eaglowski
Nothing to see here, folks.
Week 15 Update
Fort Dodge signs:  M Pasqua, W Tyler, N Rivers
Fort Dodge cuts:  M Mauller, B High, D Myers, B Kendrick, D Hughes, J Kramer, G Gerber, W Zjoe, C Fleming, M Perry, C Berrenta, J Enderle, T Jacobs
This is the nuclear button.  It actually makes sense here, as the Roughriders have decided none of these players are going to help them long-term, especially at their price.  Get the cash
out now and start a true rebuild.  The players cut are immediately available for signing for any team.
Week 13 Update
Kansas City signs:  R Myatt
Now that trades are done, the roster updates are a whole lot less exciting.
Corpus Christi signs:  T Guest
He's actually got a role with the Storm immediately, as their KR.
Trading Deadline Update
Richmond gets:  F Poley, J Pittman, H McCoy
London gets:  B Rivera
I'm not sure it's a great deal for London, but they want guys they can train up to be something in camp, and Rivera may take two, but he qualifies.
London gets:  C Bender
Kansas City gets:  $40K
I'm never one that's huge on backup kickers, but if you have 28 roster spots, you may as well have one.
London gets:  2012 E2, E4, $650K
Texas gets:  T Hatherly
Just a heads-up; the OIFL will not be allowing future-season draft pick trades after this season.  There's already 40 picks traded for 2012; this is nuts.
Fort McMurray gets:  K Hopkins, Geoff, $300K, DC E5
Long Island gets:  J Johnson, M Kenton
And Mr. Training camp goes back to Fort McMurray (Geoff has been a lot of places; he just doesn't play much)
Long Island gets:  2012 E5
Detroit gets:  A Shipman
Oh, that's exciting.
Fort McMurray gets:  $290K, 2012 DET E5
Long Island gets:  T LiPetri
LiPetri's definitely backup material at this stage, but he's still a good backup.
Long Island gets:  H Reiss, D d'Andrea, R Lewis, J Spellman, $2M, future E4 or E5 depending on traded E1 timeframe
San Antonio gets:  Bobcat, D Davis, M Cranston, A Bellamy, J Johnson, future E1 (2011, 2012, or 2013)
Though the Rattlers necessarily lose a little talent here, they realized their bank account was beyond screwed if they didn’t make a major move in a hurry.
Fort McMurray gets:  FOR E5, $200K
Detroit gets:  S Peyton
Before you wonder, Peyton is a Dennis guy.  And he's worth an E5 and cash.
Minneapolis gets:  2012 E5, $250K
Texas gets:  A Moore
More bad cash off the books for the Mustangs.
Fort McMurray gets:  M Wallace
Los Angeles gets:  VEN E1, 2012 STL E1, R Williams
Oh, now it's on.  Wow.
London gets:  TB E3, T Bruttenholm
Cedar Valley gets:  EUG E2
Bruttenholm didn't really fit in CV's plans anymore.
Vancouver Island gets:  E4, E5
Baltimore gets:  J Cochran
I like Cochran for this price.
Kansas City gets:  S Walters
DC gets:  S Whitehead
Now, Walters isn't making $100K like he used to, but this is still $13K/3 that DC has off the books.  And Whitehead's trainable.  Both sides win.
Cedar Valley gets:  T Clark, R Herrera, 2012 E3
Venice gets:  W Slevin
Not a really big deal here either way.
Tucson gets:  T Duda
Cincinnati gets:  E5, future considerations (T Duda @ year's end)
Yeah, because this is the way to ingratiate yourself with your veteran pivot.
Kansas City gets:  B Blast
DC gets:  B Greenwald, $250K due Week 1 2011.
Blast is another on the geriatric Tigers crew, but he's still good.
Week 11 Update
Trade time happy time is almost over!
London gets:  D Boll
Vancouver Island gets:  NE E2, E5, $100K
This is purely a salary dump for the Vengeance.
Detroit gets:  TUC E2, RM E5, FOR E5, M Salinas
Fort McMurray gets:  P Goodwin, F Lakha
Bienka used to hit sleepers, so this is a bit of a surprise.
Detroit signs:  R Ghiraldi
Cedar Valley gets:  G Blatenberger, E Cramer, W Slevin, LI E2
DC gets:  EVL E4, O Linton
When trying to save cash, making trades that save cash helps.
Cedar Valley gets:  D Wingate, KC E4, $500K
Texas gets:  K Cruise
Yeah, this works.
DC gets:  T Grayson, K McKenzie
Tucson gets:  T Richmond
These are the deals teams that aren't going anywhere should be going after…get something young for something that won't be helpful when you get good.
Portland gets:  S Nyer, E3, D Ellis
London gets:  A Kruse, L Czarniecki
Okay, there's a difference between rebuilding and shooting yourself in the foot.
St. Louis signs:  T Ando
London gets:  S McGinty, B Nelson, E4
Wisconsin gets:  A Caspersen
This one's marginally better than the one above, but that doesn't make it a great trade.
DC gets:  J Benham, C Antai, $275K, E5
St. Louis gets:  C Macrides
DC is doing what they need to do to get better tomorrow, since they're not winning anything today.
Kansas City signs:  S Whitehead
I'd think he'd have even paid a couple G's for the guy.
Week 10 Update
Kansas City signs:  J Wensely, J Barclay
Corpus Christi signs:  J Cant, R Reynolds, R Morrison
DC gets:  B Blast
Washington gets:  J Carper
These are the kinds of deals that improve teams quickly.  Blast still has something left in the tank, but Carper fits more what WAS wants to do…if they intend to use a WR.
Vancouver Island gets:  L Nash
Fort Dodge gets:  S Craig, 2012 LI E1, E2, LON E5, VAN E5, the $1M from LON
Well, this isn't really the type of deal I'd ever expect the Vengeance to make, but I like it.
Kansas City gets:  R Williams, 2012 E2
DC gets:  J Pritchett
This is a pure salary dump, and DC is more than happy to oblige.
Long Island gets:  C Stanley, L Jackson, G Blackwell, D Davis
London gets:  HOU E1, 2012 TUC E3, E4, S Nyer, future considerations (L Jackson, P Dozer at year's end)
Long Island wants to make a move now, but this seems to be more about backup pieces.
Richmond gets:  G Rogers, K St. Pierre
Minneapolis gets:  L Moore, T Bayfield, A Reight, E2, POR E3, E4
This for Richmond isn't about winning a Cup this year - it's about gaining some legitimacy without mortgaging the future.  They did that.
Detroit gets:  R Cabreda, R Shore
Minneapolis gets:  R Tyus, M Harvan, E3
Well, I'm pretty sure the QBs will get killed in Minneapolis, but at least they're getting rid of older pieces they've no use for.
Cedar Valley gets:  T Bruttenholm, F Consentino, E4
Evansville gets:  M Djordjevic
This seems to fill needs on both ends.
Fort McMurray signs:  N Rivers
I feel safe to say the Lightning wouldn't have made this particular move.
Wisconsin gets:  J Pucci
Fort McMurray gets:  C Brinkerhoff, $400K
The cash sealed it here, as the team needs it.
Long Island gets:  K Breen
Fort McMurray gets:  J Johnson, J Hankin, M Salinas, 2012 TUC E2 (they offered their E5, this is the only '12 pick they have, so they must have meant this)
Bienka's good at making something out of nothing…so here.
Minneapolis gets:  K Ellis
Fort McMurray gets:  POR E3, E4
Well, by the letter of the law set forth, this does make them younger.  But this one hurts.
DC gets:  S Walters
Fort McMurray gets:  T Dean, L Teabing
Walters is getting long in the tooth anyways.
London gets:  A Emmons, D DeLap
Fort McMurray gets:  B Ungar, R Williams
Getting rid of DeLap is the cherry on top of this sundae.
St. Louis gets:  W Mitchell
Fort McMurray gets:  M Kenton, J Hollingsworth, 2012 E1,2,3
STL is playing for keeps.
Portland gets:  C Bryant
Fort McMurray gets:  D Rowley, M Thompson
While QB isn't a desperate need, Rowley's pretty good.
Tampa Bay gets:  K Stanford
Fort McMurray gets:  RM E2,3,4,5
Well, Tampa traded for a running back.  Never thought I'd see that.
Venice gets:  J Bradley
Fort McMurray gets:  X Rogers, E1, TUC E2
The E1 and E2 will be nice.
St. Louis signs:  F Holderbaum
Rocky Mountain signs:  S Young, J Young, M Bassett
Kansas City gets:  T Olivares, M Stubbs
Fort McMurray gets:  D Ladd, L Quick, $350K
This gets FMF out of "fiscal emergency," though things won't really be stable until Bob's Car Repairs Stadium hosts its first OIFL game in six years.
Fort McMurray gets:  J Colombo
Cedar Valley gets:  2012 E3
Colombo's a guy that can still play a bit if he's used to his capabilities…the people with the Fatmen can do that.
Kansas City gets:  J Conner, future considerations
Vancouver Island gets:  D Butel, 2012 DC E2, 2012 KC E5, future considerations
The two players will go back to their old homes at year's end.
So, the league has a rule change that'll need made.  Ye olde loophole was found.
Portland gets:  J Olson, future considerations
Vancouver Island gets:  J Peoples, D Boll, future considerations
Olson and Peoples will go back to their old homes at year's end.
See above.
Tampa Bay gets:  T North (H Tucker is subsequently cut)
Tucson gets:  2012 RM E3
North goes back to one of his old homes.  This isn't the one he'd rather have gone back to.
And really, why is Tampa wanting to run the ball so much all of a sudden?  Their offense hasn't been the problem!
Cedar Valley gets:  A Self, DET E2, 2012 RM E3
Tucson gets:  A Hicks, Q Ammons
What?  You don't get better by dumping really good looking young players for an E2 and garbage!  Ow!
Kansas City gets:  M Hoper
Omaha gets:  T Knight
Omaha really needed to, you know, try, to get something young and buildable.  Knight is neither.
Wisconsin gets:  B Schmidt
Baltimore gets:  L Bullocks, STL E4
Bullocks is going to be really good, but WIS still needed WRDB depth in all kinds of desperate ways.  Now they have some.
Kansas City signs:  H Tucker
Okay, then.
Fort Dodge gets:  T Jacobs
Kansas City gets:  T Ando, then cuts him
The Riders didn't want to cut one of the better players in the league's storied history.  KC has no such qualms.
Week 9 Update
Portland gets:  J Shidecker
Spokane gets:  M Cain, D Coleman, S Ness, P Stephenson, T Onderdonk, WIS E3
So basically, they traded Stephen Fox, Gary Greger, and E4 and an E5 for this poo poo platter deluxe.  This was the trade that finally broke the camel's back.
Kansas City gets:  D Ladd, $750K
Omaha gets:  B Long
Long may not be around for if/when Omaha gets good again, but this is a good trade.
Wisconsin gets:  R Brown, $4M at EOC (for Brown bonus), $3M if Brown recorded 8 sacks through this year's end (between Weeks 9-16)
Kansas City gets:  T Jacobs, $3M
And this is what you do when you're in a superior bargaining position.
Kansas City gets:  $100K
Vancouver Island gets:  P Marntos
I guess it's an OK deal, but I fail to see what Marntos will bring.
The Spokane Eagles under new ownership have moved to Richmond, Virginia, and will become the Bandits.
Vancouver Island gets:  2012 TUC E5
Long Island gets:  Geoff
Geoff is a good veteran presence with little talent…Long Island isn't exactly lacking in veteran presence, though.
Los Angeles cuts:  J Wensely
A little surprise, but not a huge one.  They traded an E3 for him, yes, but he's the worst player on the roster.  Richmond could use his experience.
Washington cuts:  J Cant
Cant's had a long career with a fair amount of success, but I can't see how it's going to continue.
Waco cuts:  J Barclay
Waco's improved.  He's not good enough.
All-Star Week Update
London gets:  2011 E5, 2012 E4, G Blackwell
Wisconsin gets:  B Pennington
In 2005, New England started 0-8 and then traded for Bob Danylchak.  They finished 8-8.  Wisconsin, which started 0-7, now looks like they could do something similar.
Long Island signs:  J Hankin, W Jefferson
Long Island cuts:  J Young
Well, Jefferson's really got years and years of experience riding the bench, so this could be huge.
Vancouver Island gets:  S Fox, G Greger, VAN E5, DET E4
Spokane gets:  J Shidecker
Just cut the pretense - Shidecker, as he keeps getting traded, will not sign before FAFFA without a contract that pays well in excess of $100,000 a week, fully guaranteed.
Week 8 Update
Wisconsin cuts:  R Morrison, J O'Keller
Wisconsin signs:  J Schmotzer, T Bynum
Every pickup like this, no matter how small, is still an improvement.
Rocky Mountain gets:  E1
Portland gets:  D Boll
I think this deal works OK both ways.
Cedar Valley gets:  2012 E1, F Delighten, E Smith, A Ogden, J Colombo
Kansas City gets:  2012 E3, T Clements, B Long
While it's mostly a backup-for-backup trade, I can't help think KC did well here.
Kansas City gets:  $250K
Vancouver Island gets:  CV 2012 E3
Okay, surprise.
Wisconsin gets:  Y Blumenthal
Portland gets:  E3, $1M, D Coleman, S Ness
Even at 0-7, the Warlords aren't waiting.
Wisconsin gets:  J Linzeth
Spokane gets:  T Rallings, E2
This was clearly just for the E2 and more relief.
Vancouver Island gets:  J Shidecker
Los Angeles gets:  D Morgan, N Nash
I'm not sure why the Vengeance are adding pieces that may leave at year's end, but we'll go with it.
Portland gets:  J Groves
Corpus Christi gets:  2012 E2, E3
The Storm are getting perilously thin, only 19 guys on the roster now.
Week 7 Update
Wisconsin gets:  D Butts, S Nelson
Cedar Valley gets:  TB E3, $1M
Smart move here to get some cash to get out of the financial problems for now.
Long Island signs:  J Young
Long Island cuts:  F Holderbaum
We're not missing much here.
Long Island gets:  T Doxen, D Beard, P Dozer, DET E2, DC E5
DC gets:  C Macrides, T Richmond, C Palso, J Carper
Friends, I present you this public service announcement as a courtesy to a player that I feel has a lot of talent and upside, and that has been treated unfairly by many.
Corey Palso does not have leprosy.  Thank you.
Tucson gets:  J Avery, DET E2
Long Island gets:  K Hopkins, HOU E1, 2012 TUC E2,3,4,5, $1M to LI if TUC wins OIFLCup in 2010/11, $2M to LI if TUC trades Avery before end of contract
I guess this is retaliation for Fly?
Waco cuts:  Z Quammen, J Schmotzer, J Hankin, T Bynum
Though they're paying far far far far far far far too much for what talent they're getting, these guys aren't needed anymore.
Waco gets:  D Alexander
Vancouver Island gets:  J Hart, TEX E2, WAC E4, 2012 LI E1,2,3
My cousin-in-law, whose heart is bigger than his brain…
I appreciate that, Clark.
…is innocent.
Vancouver Island gets:  F Scallia
Texas gets:  D Wingate, KC E4
There is no truth to the rumor that Texas was reluctant to make this trade because they feared the Vengeance would then turn Scallia over for five picks and cash.
Cincinnati gets:  K Graham
St. Louis gets:  J Bullock
This is the rare deal that's pretty much fair both ways, but I'm not really sure why the Rush need a second starting pure LB.
Week 6 Update
Evansville gets:  K Boston
Spokane gets:  J Krivenko, S Kramer
So Spokane traded Weisgarber, Rozier, Spencer, an E1, E2, E3, E5 for Kramer and Krivenko.  I can see the logic in that Kramer's now the best receiver on the roster, but this was
one of the worst moves I've seen a team make in awhile.  Sorry, though, no pretty bird.
Cedar Valley gets:  M Samuels
Detroit gets:  E1, E3, P Goodwin
Samuels is a big time receiver for the Phantoms.
North Dakota gets:  Z Starks
Detroit gets:  R Tyus, E5
Starks is a very small upgrade to the RB corps…much smaller than the next one they're gonna get below.
Venice signs:  X Rogers
Rogers is a decent depth piece.
Cedar Valley gets:  O Linton
Omaha gets:  M Trask, J Porter, E4, MIA E1
An exceptional trade for Omaha.  Chris is starting to see that you need more than 6 useable players on a roster.  28 would be nice, but Omaha must keep making trades like this
to get anywhere near that.
Minneapolis gets:  R Cabell, TUC E1
North Dakota gtes:  K Mintz, E2
Cabell is grossly overpriced, yes.  But, he's a guy with a lot of upside that the Mustangs can develop over a couple years to get to something.  And they unload that albatross of a
contract.  On the other end, though…um…that's what you call a statement.  North Dakota was a feel good story after the California mess of last year.  "Oh look, they're 4-1, how cute.
They've done nice!  Now get out of the big boys' way so we can see who will really win."  No longer true.  Yes, he's old.  Yes, he's lost a step.  But the Nighthawks just made the
biggest acquisition they've ever made.  Friends, they're contenders now.
Los Angeles gets:  H Gordon, M Fly
Waco gets:  A Haddox, M Baltzell, (OS) A Smith
Well, Los Angeles publicly states they try for 8-8 and anything over that is cause for happiness.  Obviously, the Brit's a liar.
Spokane gets:  CC E1,2, TEX E3, WAC E3, LA E3, VI E5, TB E5, TUC E5, $1,000,000
Waco gets:  S Stewart, W Anderson, R Gardner, P Welker
Just when you think Waco finds a path to take, they go Clark Griswold and ramp into a parking lot.  I guess it saved a few minutes, though?
Waco gets:  J Lofton, 2012 E2,4,5
Rocky Mountain gets:  T Evans
Evans is a better backup for RM, but Waco gets a few extra picks and an intriguing player in Lofton.
Detroit gets:  F Lakha, J Rodriquez, MIN E2, VEN E5, 2012 ND E2, 2012 VAN E2,
2012 LA E5, 2012 VAN E5, $1,000,000 (ND)
North Dakota gets:  V Simecka, J Jerrett, R Jackson, NE E5, LA E5
Vancouver Island gets:  J Quinn
Well, they found their WR.  I don't understand the angle of Vancouver Island trading for a DS/DL, though.
Vancouver Island gets:  D Alexander, 2012 TEX E1, 2012 LON E4, $850,000
Texas gets:  R June
Good deal both ways - Vengeance get a little lesser player but an E1 and cash to go with it.  Texas gets a guy that'll help now.
Week 5 Update
Portland gets:  M Thompson, K Sick, $850K
Spokane gets:  J Linzeth, P Welker, R Gardner, E3,4,5
This is better than the others, but I see no reason to add salary, especially when one of the players is old.
Kansas City gets:  J Pritchett
Fort Dodge gets:  V Ollie
Ollie will be good for awhile, and this gives some financial relief.
Spokane gets:  R Gibson
Texas gets:  EUG E2
While you would say "Spokane is terrible, why trade a pick for a player?"  Gibson isn't old, and he may well be better than a mid-round E2, so not bad here.
Kansas City gets:  B Woodcock, M Hartman
Spokane gets:  J Manzak, G Greger, 2012 KC E3
And Kansas City is now thinking they can win this year.
London gets:  T Jefferson, F Scallia, EUG E2, LON E4, OMA E4
Texas gets:  S Harlan
And London's working on next year.  Wonder what team really needs Pennington.
Long Island gets:  M Jacobs, C Palso
Washington gets:  VAN, TEX, TUC E4, R Meadows, B Blast, D Fry
That's an interesting deal.  Dan Jackson doesn't mind not being the focus, but he's not real keen on the wishbone.
London gets:  J Pittman, TEX E1
Long Island gets:  C Macrides
London is now trying to blow things up - 1-3 isn't that bad a start for an expansion team, but clearly Loughman is the focus here.
Kansas City gets:  D Butel
Washington gets:  W Thurston
Butel's a pretty strong veteran, but that's not the only reason he's being brought there.
Kansas City gets:  C Wier
Evansville gets:  J Wile
I don't think the Tigers are hurting for attendance so much that they need to draw fans from 300 miles southwest.
Spokane gets:  K Boston
San Antonio gets:  S Weisgarber, B Rozier, R Spencer, E3, DET E5, 2012 E1, E2
Yeah, Boston's really good, but I'm not sure this is really part of a rebuilding project.
London gets:  H Shaw
Texas gets:  F Scallia
Well, if they'd have sent me the final trade and not a non-final one…
DC signs:  T Dean
Dean has some usefulness, I suppose.
San Antonio cuts:  W Jefferson
It's probably about time here.
Fort Dodge gets:  D Myers
Spokane gets:  ND E3
Myers is a very average player, but FD needs a body to fill Hill's hole.
Fort Dodge signs:  A Gardner
Gardner's a capable backup, which they need with Borrello out.
Fort Dodge gets:  J Enderle, TB E2, $2M
Wisconsin gets:  C Mace, T Moulton, W Hill
There we go.  Wisconsin has had all this cash for years and a refusal to try to get better with it - now, we're seeing something.  Hill fills a huge need at DS, while Mace is better than
anyone the Warlords have had since Alex Moore, when he was good.
Kansas City gets:  C Mace
Wisconsin gets:  M Edminster, 2012 E4
Harvey's starting to get back into the swing of things here.
Waco gets:  J Hanklin, VAN E5, 2012 TEX E3
Texas gets:  R Merritt
I see we're getting all kinds of wacky trades.
Washington gets:  N Basten
Wisconsin gets:  S McGinty
McGinty is too expensive, but he's willing to negotiate, and he is an upgrade for the Warlords.
Vancouver Island gets:  NE E5, $50K
London gets:  D Martin
This is otherwise known as "we got rid of him?!"
Vancouver Island gets:  E4, E5, 2012 E3,4,5
Los Angeles gets:  S Weeks
The Vengeance really think Hiruma will replace Sauk in a couple years, so Weeks became very expendable.
London gets:  P Whyel
Washington gets:  R dos Santos
Whyel is going to be their centerpiece DS for a number of years, and dos Santos is just a backup to a guy who has all kinds of time left.
Waco gets:  M Fly
Washington gets:  S Church, TB E1, 2012 LI E3, $7.5M
Wait, what?
Wisconsin cuts:  S Young
Well, gotta make room for real, live, talent.
London cuts:  M Pasqua, N Rivers, X Rogers
We're not missing much here.
Week 4 Update
Texas gets:  2011/12 E4
London gets:  F Porter
Probably a fair deal.
Vancouver Island gets:  VAN E1, LON E5, 2012 VEN E4
London gets:  LON E1
Hard to tell if this is good or bad, we won't know until we get slots.
D.C. gets:  DET E2
Cedar Valley gets:  D Schlosser
Schlosser fills a pretty good need for the Phantoms in that he's an experienced lineman.
Spokane gets:  A Reight, B Rozier, EUG E2
Venice gets:  L Williams
Line depth is the one thing Spokane doesn't need.  Especially when neither is all that good, and Williams is.
Detroit gets:  M Workman, M Harvan
Spokane gets:  T Bayfield, K Sick, E4, E5
Does the league need to step in for trading here?
Baltimore signs:  C Anthony
What?
Texas gets:  H Shaw, E4
Omaha gets:  D Ladd
Young guys get shuffled, nothing major here.
Week 3 Update
Los Angeles gets:  K Ludeman
Waco gets:  E3
Waco's just gunning for every pick in the draft next year; that's clear.
Corpus Christi gets:  E Trenholm
Waco gets:  L Hilton, R Merritt, 2011 E1,2,3
Hopefully for Waco the draft is strong.
Waco gets:  J Barclay, D Tickner, 2011 STL E1, 2012 LI E1,2,3,4,5
Long Island gets:  J Avery, K Lemire, $10M, Avery's contract bonuses for 2010
This really isn't a good deal for Long Island.  Why exactly do they need John Avery?  The team was on its way to avoiding these sorts of 'name' moves, and here we go again.
New England signs:  M O'Donnell
This is just a 3-week contract while Dumont recovers.
Long Island cuts:  K Lemire
Waco signs:  K Lemire
Waco didn't trade him intending to resign him back like this, but since the Mean Machine didn't really want him…
Long Island signs:  F Holderbaum, D Fry
Not seeing the need for Holderbaum here.
Waco gets:  J Kershner, E2, E3, E5, TUC E5
Texas gets:  D Alexander
Okay, the fire sale is getting a little over-the-top.
Tucson gets:  P Woods, HOU E1, A Calp
Tampa Bay gets:  $800K, L Zimmerman, J Reed
Zimmerman's the key to the deal, but TB needed the cash, too (for a while).
Tampa Bay gets:  $6M
Waco gets:  TB E1,4,5
Wild overpay by Waco here.
Texas gets:  S Warren
Long Island gets:  A Bellamy, TEX E1,4, TUC E4, VAN E4
This might actually be an overpay by Texas - Bellamy isn't Warren, but he's not as far off as it'd seem.
Portland gets:  Y Blumenthal
Kansas City gets:  R Brown
The OIFL's #2 all-time sackmaster was the odd man out with a daggone good line in Portland, and Blumenthal can now be tutored by Boddy himself.
Week 2 Update
Baltimore cuts:  C Walby
Yeah, so the need for OS/OL isn't real pressing.
Wisconsin cuts:  U Albright, K Lane
Wisconsin signs:  R Reynolds, S Young
It's a slow process, especially when using this FAFFA pile.
Waco gets:  MIA E3
Omaha gets:  M Hoper
This is probably the best trade Chris has ever made.
Waco signs:  K Lemire, Z Quammen
Waco cuts:  A Gardner, P Marntos
There'll be another cut if he can't be traded.
Kansas City gets:  A Sandler
Waco gets:  J Shields, KC E2
This is 100% about cutting salary.  Yes, they could get better talent, but Waco wants financial stability, because $30,000,000 isn't enough in the bank, apparently.
Kansas City signs:  P Marntos
Wheeeee!
Week 1 Update
Detroit cuts:  M Voyles, K Junker, D Fry
We're not losing much here.
Evansville cuts:  K Lemire, K Dorius
In a minor upset, James Huaman will stay with the Squirrels as their kick returner.
Omaha gets:  J Davis
Kansas City gets:  R Harpeteker
At first glance, you might say "why is Lysoby helping Omaha?"  Harpeteker is much more like Rayburn than Davis is, while Davis is much more like Kaleo than Harpeteker is.
Wisconsin signs:  N Basten, R Morrison
Wisconsin cuts:  W Piatt, R Spillett
The Warlords need to take bigger steps than this, but baby steps are still steps.
D.C. cuts:  M O'Donnell, T Couloumbe, T Dean
I can see O'Donnell getting a backup gig somewhere.
Tucson cuts:  R Rinehardt
We'll see what happens with these guys that are being cut.
St. Louis cuts:  R Tanner, C Bradley
Tanner hurts a bit for the price it'll be.
Baltimore cuts:  J Romano
Not real strong player here.
Cincinnati cuts:  P Bain
Will he get a job?
Minneapolis cuts:  F Luntz
Yeah, he won't.
June 10, 2010 Update
London gets:  2012 E2,4,5, R dos Santos, X Rogers, $300K
Venice gets:  M Frager
London wants good leadership guys, but they may have jettisoned quite a bit of talent for it and a few picks way down the road.
June 9, 2010 Update
Omaha gets:  W Wilkes, M Hines, MIA E3, $200K
Kansas City gets:  Y Blumenthal
I guess that's what you gotta do to try and get more talent…
Kansas City gets:  C Bender
Tucson gets:  $1K
Last of the big spenders.
June 5, 2010 Update
Tampa Bay gets:  2012 E3, $2K
Rocky Mountain gets:  K McGregor
It's a backup spot, and he paid largely a backup price for it.
New England gets:  P Reynolds
London gets:  2011 E2, E5, 2012 E5
Reynolds fills perhaps the Sno-Dogs' biggest need.  London also didn't need him anymore.
Kansas City signs:  B Greenwald
Greenwald isn't nearly as useful in a faster OIFL, but he's still got some talent.
June 1, 2010 Update
Rocky Mountain gets:  J Leod
Kansas City gets:  $1,000
A salary dump, though I'm sure there are ulterior motives involved.
Tucson cuts:  J Young, E Cox, N MacNaver, D Finke, E Truett
I'd be surprised if many of these guys got picked up.
St. Louis cuts:  D Thompson, F Doctor, R Perreault, C Anthony, N Basten, J Salko, B Greenwald
Send
There's a couple projects there, but we're not looking at an all-star cut brigade.
May 7, 2010 Update
Tucson cuts:  J Ford, J Fitzsimmons, R Morrison, K Symon
You didn't expect them to cut Lang, did you?
El Cinco de Mayo!
Venice signs:  B Rozier
Rozier provides some depth and he'll be buildable for a camp or two down the line, too.
St. Louis gets:  Jackson, Emrick
Tucson gets:  $500K
I don't think that kind of cash was necessary for those two.
Tucson gets:  B Christoff
Texas gets:  D Johnson, J Kershner, J Hankin
A fair deal both ways, Tucson using their wealth to get another big time guy, though Christoff has no history of such.
Vancouver Island cuts:  F Holderbaum, T Rowde, S Bozark
No huge losses here.
April 28, 2010 Update
Rocky Mountain signs:  G Flynn
Rocky Mountain cuts:  J Spinks
And Spinks didn't have that bad a scrimmage, but he's a spare part on a team that doesn't need a backup OS.
Venice signs:  R Herrera
Fills a bit of a need as a backup, but if Venice expects him to log significant minutes they may have issues.
Kansas City signs:  D Carr
Carr's the type of guy Lysoby has always liked, in that he can do a few things, even if none of them all that great anymore.
Detroit gets:  F Miles, LA E2
Kansas City gets:  J Wile, J Cornell
The Gladiators organization never likes overpaying guys they didn't develop.  It was only a matter of time that the acquired Cornell would be shipped off for something.
St. Louis signs:  F Doctor, C Anthony
Camp bench; that's probably all.
Tucson gets:  $500K
Vancouver Island gets:  D Kinsey, D Windgate
The Vengeance want to still be competitive even if they don't think they have a Cup team, and these guys help the depth a bit.
Washington cuts:  R Reynolds, K Thurston, B Rozier
They've got an interesting team, and these guys weren't in their plans.
April 19, 2010 Update
Los Angeles cuts:  D Carr
Carr's going to find a job somewhere, but his time in LA was up.
Tucson cuts:  S Young, W Harwood, G Flynn, R Herrera, J Windsor, R Morton, G Davis, T Braff
Is this finally the day Will Harwood hangs up his rarely-used (after camp, that is) cleats?
Omaha gets:  D Sheets
Tucson gets:  2011 E5, $75K
Omaha needs depth, but they should've waited until other teams cut guys better than Sheets.
Washington gets:  J Ruffin, A Adama
Kansas City gets:  F Miles, J Shields
That makes things a bit more interesting.  I mean, Washington didn't have any RBs, so, ya know…
Washington gets:  J Kristen, M Fly, A Meshekow, R Jenkins
St. Louis gets:  D Greywacz, J Baez, K Graham, M Kenton
The Rush just rebuilt without rebuilding.  That's an impressive job in such a ridiculos division, though the Rush still have work to do.
April 16, 2010 Update
Texas gets:  VAN E4, E5
St. Louis gets:  R Tanner
The Rush wanted a third QB…I think a waiver wire pickup may have been just as good.
Kansas City gets:  E2
Los Angeles gets:  J Wensely
That's a gross overpay for a guy that's a backup.
Vancouver Island gets:  C Blair, A Fernandez
Kansas City gets:  J Guzman, A Adama
And teams are just going to let KC get out of their financial problems.
Baltimore gets:  R Myatt
Detroit gets:  $15K
Well, they at least didn't give up much for him…
Kansas City gets:  M Otis, $3M
Los Angeles gets:  P Govan
Otis was expendable now that they got that Mo Wallace guy, and Govan fills a need.  Might have been an overpay, though.
St. Louis gets:  R Brownings, G Cooper, J Kristen, R Johns, D Delaney, B Greenwald, J Guzman
Kansas City gets:  T Knight, B Rayburn, 2011 MIA E3, $620K for NTC
I'm not sure the thought of this trade.  STL is trying to rebuild without rebuilding?  Kansas City is now the clear favorite again in the Central.
Los Angeles signs:  T Babthorpe
St. Louis signs:  C Brantley, R Perreault, J Salko, D Thompson
Rocky Mountain signs:  R Curry, N Fronczak
Venice signs:  T Clark
Camp Time Transactions (trades will be processed if both teams' camps are done)
North Dakota cuts:  Fronczak, Curry, Weber, Babthorpe
Not a whole lot to worry about here.
New England cuts:  R Thompson
Long-time Sno-Dog, but no longer really useful.
Long Island gets:  $60K
Baltimore gets:  M Lee, R May, C Walby
The fact these guys are probably going to help Baltimore a little doesn't say a lot for Baltimore.
Los Angeles gets:  M Wallace, S Garz
Omaha gets:  J McKennon, M Garbinsky, M Farris
Hi folks, this is a blockbuster.
Pre-Moratorium Update
Wisconsin signs:
C Brinkerhoff
J O'Keller
U Albright
These guys will help what is still a pretty ugly bench.
Minneapolis gets:  T Laster, R Shore
Kansas City gets:  $75K
A good way to parlay some FAFFA excess.
March 6, 2010 Update
Tucson gets:  M Bell
Spokane gets:  M Lansdale
What better player to teach the young DS the real ropes on what to do than one of the best that's ever done it?
Los Angeles gets:  L Terry
Kansas City gets:  $75K
It's a pure salary dump, but the Tigers move that much closer to solvency.  Los Angeles gets a guy who will help them in return.
North Dakota gets:  D Pollock, $200K
Venice gets:  2011 TUC E2, D Macgruder
Not a huge deal, but could be good.
March 4, 2010 Update
Rocky Mountain gets:  E5-5
North Dakota gets:  $1,000
We're not talking big bucks here.
Evansville cuts:  B Arledge, G Drum
How can Ben not be sure that the presense of Sarah's boss on his roster wasn't what actually got him over the top?
March 3, 2010 Update
London cuts:  F Jordan
It's a good sign that these teams can legitimately cut the 'original expansion draft' guys.
Corpus Christi cuts:  D Shumate
He didn't last real long.
March 2, 2010 Update
Tucson gets:  D Johnson, E4-9, 20, 23; E5-4, 11, 19
Long Island gets:  J Huff, R Warrick, $250K - 1M if any of those six picks is a sleeper
There's a worrying point for Tucson fans in that we're not sure if a sleeper will be as good as Huff is.
Cincinnati gets:  $300K
Tucson gets:  E4-14, E5-14
Cincy had a pretty fair draft anyways; they just wanted some cash and stop bothering.
February 26, 2010 Update
London cuts:  J Kilgallen, J Duffy, B Downing
Players that have no real use in London anymore.
Cedar Valley cuts:  A Granger, R Williams, J Kramer
They're financially painful cuts, but they were necessary.
February 23, 2010 Update
Corpus Christi cuts:  WRDB Gordan
Sleeper shot gone awry.
Vancouver Island cuts:  W Pless, A McDougal
They needed to go.
North Dakota cuts:  N Basten, C Bryant, R Jackson, L Bright, J Johnson, D Jennings, A Adama
I don't see any bad cuts here, either.
San Antonio gets:  2011 SPO E4
Long Island gets:  S Nyer
Not bad
February 22, 2010 Update
Eugene cuts:  S Johnson
Is this the end of the line for a long-time starting pivot?
London gets:  E3-5
Omaha gets:  $400K
Xplosion want a little more cash cushion.
Tucson gets:  D2-23
Kansas City gets:  D2-33, $150K
Tigers feel they'll get who they want 10 picks later.  So far, they've been right.
Tucson gets:  E3-4,12,28; E4-4,18,19,22; E5-15,17,25
Minneapolis gets:  J Thiel
This is obviously a sleeper shot.  Minneapolis, basically, just got their sleeper.
February 21, 2010 Update
Eugene gets:  G Tiebach, J Gunn, $50K
London gets:  F Poley, D Hunt, E3-18
Gunn's not really a need since Owens is hardly old, but it's a decent deal for Eugene regardless.
St. Louis gets:  D2-15, D2-20, D2-24
Kansas City gets:  $500K
Kansas City trying to liquidate a bit here; Rush trying to find that last piece or two.
Cedar Valley gets:  D2-11
Kansas City gets:  $1M
See above.
San Antonio gets:  $1.5M, H Adcock
Tucson gets:  E3-11, 17, 25; E4-10, 13; E5-22
Hard to believe the Rattlers are trading for cash, but welcome to the OIFL!
D.C. cuts:  C Davis, J Benton
Not much here.
February 18, 2010 Update
Omaha cuts:  P Gill
Gill is beyond whatever prime he had.
Corpus Christi cuts:  B Rosa, R Smith
They were once guys the Storm thought were going to be big time players for the team.  Didn't happen.
San Diego gets:  J Avery, $750K
Spokane gets:  E3-30
If this isn't a salary dump, such a concept doesn't exist.
Minneapolis cuts:  R Rinehardt, A Walker
Well, the players picked up in that first draft were scrubs, and they're being treated as such.
Evansville gets:  D2-5
Eugene gets:  E4-21
Evansville wanted Huaman, and they guaranteed they got him here.
London gets:  E2-19, C Macrides
Corpus Christi gets:  E3-3, E4-18, E5-3, $350K
Macrides will add to London's ever-growing roster.
London cuts:  J Kelly, T Becker
Kelly has a boatload of experience, but the tires are also showing thread.
February 16, 2010 Update
Long Island cuts:  K Bazziel
Bazziel is a long-time on again off again Mean Machine member, but it's probably really time to go.
Rocky Mountain cuts:  L Wilson, K von Stieger
Backup kickers are a dime a dozen.
Minneapolis cuts:  M O'Donnell, W Harwood, B Scott
O'Donnell surprises me a bit, but they don't need a bunch of old backup pivots.
London gets:  R Williams, T Hatherly
Detroit gets:  D1-33, $100K, E3-29
It's always tough to finally decide to move on a bit, but Detroit is doing that with some guys.
Baltimore gets:  S Ross
Detroit gets:  2011 E2, $100K
Ross was the guy kinda groomed to replace Alexander, but since Alexander doesn't appear to ever get old, he became very expendable.
Eugene gets:  C Rastafari
Spokane gets:  T Clardy
Eugene's getting better by the day, and they're quickly becoming a legitimately good team.
Tucson gets:  D2-33,35,37
London gets:  $400K (payable in two installments)
London must be happy with their team.
Eugene gets:  D Madray
Detroit gets:  2011 E1, J Wile, Z Starks, $750K
And Eugene has no intention for that E1 to be a high pick, either.  Wow.
Minneapolis gets:  K Smith
Cedar Valley gets:  $50K
This is a salary dump!  Smith, though, helps minny for the price.
February 15, 2010 Update
D.C. gets:  T Couloumbe, $25K
St. Louis gets:  A Satterfield
Not a big-time deal.
February 14, 2010 Update
Why yes, I am romantic.  Why do you ask?
London cuts:  D Stephens
North Dakota retains rights to:  D Stephens
Stephens had a fully guaranteed contract.  London picked him up in the expansion draft and has decided to remove him, rendering North Dakota liable for his contract.  Instead of ND
just paying $960K and telling him to go away, the Nighthawks decided instead to retain his rights, which I've allowed.
Spokane gets:  E2-7 (EUG)
Kansas City gets:  D2-15 (SPO), $400K (EUG)
Eugene gets:  W Marck
Eugene wasn't bashful about chucking it all over without any big time receivers.  They now have one.  This could be fun.
February 13, 2010 Update
Kansas City gets: D2-11
Baltimore gets:  A LaPetri
The Tigers were giving up far more for picks in this range, but LaPetri brings Balto much-needed leadership.
Spokane gets:  $1M, D Meyers
Eugene gets:  D1-15
Maybe a bit of an overpay, but Eugene has the coin.
Kansas City gets:  D2-14, J Leod
D.C. gets:  T Doxen
D.C. needed a big time receiver that was also effective in the run game.  Today, they may have the best the OIFL has ever seen.
Kansas City gets:  D2-34, 36, 38, 40
Minneapolis gets;  K Mintz, R Cabreda, J Elam
Are they young?  No.  Do they give the Mustangs a true shot at the playoffs?  Yes.
Kansas City gets:  2011 MIA E4, $250K
Vancouver Island gets:  D Martin
An interesting trade, as most are.
Cedar Valley gets:  A Hicks, J Zagadaneca, 2011 MIA E4
Kansas City gets:  D2-20, D2-28, C Blair
The liquidation continues.
Omaha gets:  2011 MIN E3
Minneapolis gets:  $100K, S Hunter-Little
And Minneapolis gets a starting OS, anyways.
Cedar Valley gets:  D1-26, D2-26
London gets:  D1-20, H McCoy
McCoy's still a capable starting DS, and the D pick is a good one, too.
Portland gets:  E2-12, E3-22, E4-17, $500K
Texas gets:  D1-21
Portland is going to get some depth, which they most certainly need.
Eugene gets:  D Feist
Venice gets:  2011 EUG E2, $2M
Feist is a pretty good player, though a bit pricey, but he'll do well for Eugene.
Detroit gets:  V Simecka, E4-15
Spokane gets:  E1-22, E1-24
Simecka's a big time player that has no idea what stability is, just what a team like Detroit needs.
Long Island gets:  E5-4
Minneapolis gets:  A Moore
At first glance, this smells like a salary dump - but Moore is really little more than a backup anymore, and he's not a cheap one.  So sure, it's a dump, but it makes sense both ways.
February 11, 2010 Update
London gets:  D1-13, D1-26, E2-9, E2-11, 2011 VAN E1
Vancouver Island gets:  2011 LON E1, $1M at year end 2010
Interesting trade.
Tampa Bay gets:  D2-3
Minneapolis gets:  $250K, K St. Pierre
A good pickup, though an expensive player, for the Mustangs.
Tampa Bay gets:  D2-8
San Diego gets:  C Kettlewell
The Sailors know they need a DS, and Kettlewell is probably better than one they'd get with the D2-8.
San Diego gets:  E Spadafore
D.C. gets:  E2-10, $2M
Spadafore has some talent, but he will need a bit of work from the Sailors to realize all of it.
Spokane gets:  E1-9
San Diego gets:  D Vickers, A Sandler, $400K
Okay, now the Sailors may have gone too far the other way with DS.  Sandler's still a big time player, though, even if he's lost a few steps.
Long Island gets:  M Giguere, E4-23, E5-19
Texas gets:  2011 TUC E4, E5, $50K
This is not what you'd call a "blockbuster."
Cedar Valley gets:  E Calderon, D Butts, D2-28, 2011 DET E2
Detroit gets:  W Bazile, E1-28
Bazile's still a big time player, but the Phantoms just didn't want to spend his salary on just one guy in 2010.
Los Angeles gets:  D McCallister, A Johnson
D.C. gets:  W Yetzer, $100K
McCallister goes to one of his original franchises.
Los Angeles gets:  $150K
Baltimore gets:  T Bray
Bray will be a good depth piece in Baltimore.
D.C. gets:  M Giguere, 2011 LI E2
Long Island gets:  J Tate, E5-11
Tate's a headcase, but he's got all kinds of talent.  DC just doesn't have a need for a malcontent on the bench.
Tucson gets:  E2-4, R Marshall
London gets:  B Pennington, J Gunn
This is a blockbuster.  Pennington will probably be given free reign to bring back his air raid offense from his Mobile days, and he's got an undermanned team with which to show
his stuff once more.  And, he gets to develop his successor.  Tucson also gets Lang's successor in the deal.  London's instantly got a shot.
Cedar Valley gets:  B Long
Los Angeles gets:  E1-16
Long's not a starter anymore, but he's still an incredibly capable back that can bring it…and if he needs to start a few games, he will probably figure that out, too.
Washington gets:  D1-19, D Badnell, $50K
Venice gets:  E1-17, E3-26
Good deal on both ends.
Minneapolis gets:  E3-12, J Lyons, M White
Washington gets:  E2-29
Backups for backups.
Texas gets:  D1-22
D.C. gets:  D Schlosser, G Jones
Texas wants to shed some payroll while DC wants upgrades.  Here we go.
February 8, 2010 Update
Vancouver Island gets:  2011 E2
London gets:  L Jackson
A pretty good price for Jackson, who has done it all in his short career.
Tucson gets:  B Pennington, E3-23
Long Island gets:  D2-10, D2-21, 2011 TUC E4, E5, 2011 SPO E5, $750K
I see no way this ends badly…
Texas gets:  E4-23
London gets:  D Ellis
Interesting deal.
February 6, 2010 Update
Omaha gets:  E1-15
Long Island gets:  E3-23, E4-20, 2011 STL E1, $2.75M
A large overpay for the E1-15.
Rocky Mountain gets:  T Meyers
Cedar Valley gets:  D1-20, D2-20, K Cruise, K Smith, $3M
Certainly the Phantoms didn't want to give up Meyers, but the haul they received will make it worthwhile down the road.
Portland gets:  J Linzeth
Tucson gets:  $500K, D2-21
Linzeth will be a good depth piece for the Pioneers.
Vancouver Island gets:  D1-13, E2-8
Fort Dodge gets:  $3M
And the financial problems are largely going away.
February 5, 2010 Update
Long Island gets:  E2-20, D2-19, $1M
Venice gets:  E1-25
Venice wants to move on up in the entry draft, and they'll give Long Island a little cash and salary relief to do it.
Corpus Christi gets: E1-4
Minneapolis gets:  E1-11, E1-21
Charlie's looking to get a number of players that can contribute, and the Storm see someone they really like.
Tucson gets:  T Grayson, A Burkett
Rocky Mountain gets:  J Lofton
Lofton has a strange skill set, but the Reign have had success with guys with strange skill sets.
Washington gets:  P Ellis, J Shields, M Kenton
Tucson gets:  M Horowitz
Washington still trying to build up the entire depth chart and roster; Tucson trying to maintain title-type form.
Post-OIFLCup Game transactions
Send
Tampa Bay gets:  $1M
Rocky Mountain gets:  L Byers
Let's try a new format here a little bit.  Save some trees.  Marauders need cash, Reign need players.  Easy call here.
Portland gets:  A Morrow
Vancouver Island gets:  R Marshall
Not really sure why the Pioneers traded their long-time pivot in the first place.  But I only run this league…I married a therapist, I am not one.
Detroit gets: D Flanders, K Thime, D1-28
Long Island gets:  E1-25, D1-22, $1.5M
Detroit has some clout to throw around to get better, and Flanders will help shore up some concerns.  Of course, for the first time since Dennis has been in the OIFL, kicker
is not a problem.
Detroit gets:  C Scott
Spokane gets:  E3-16, E4-15
Though Scott made his big time with this franchise when they were in Las Vegas, it's clear management wants their own to retire with them.
Kansas City gets:  D1 & D2
Tucson gets:  L Zimmerman
Kansas City is desperately trying to stay relevant while slashing payroll.  This isn't a bad start.
Tucson gets:  D1 & D2
Corpus Christi gets:  D Walters
Walters is a good player that became a scapegoat for Tucson's failures.  So both sides do OK here.
Kansas City gets:  2011 STL E1, F Hightower
Long Island gets:  D Jackson
I assume this means Pennington is on his way out.
Omaha gets:  D1-3
Minneapolis gets:  J Loria, E1-21, E2-5, E4-19, E5-17, $3.5M
Minneapolis gets a really nice start with rookies to their inaugural second OIFL campaign.  And they get an old friend back for it, too.
Cedar Valley gets:  E1-16, $2.5M
Rocky Mountain gets:  P Schroeder, L O'Neil
It's tough for the Phantoms to lose guys like these, but this isn't a bad trade for them to take.
St. Louis gets:  P Lambert
Kansas City gets:  E Kalp, D1, D2, $500K
Tigers trying to retool a roster while staying competitive and fiscally responsible, and it's starting to look like they could actually do it.
Vancouver Island gets:  E1-3, E2-3
London gets:  D2-26, E4-18, R Marshall, A Caspersen
I'm not usually a fan of teams giving up high E1s unless it's a killer deal, but this isn't bad.  Two positions are solidified immediately with starters, and you never know
what you'll get in an OIFL draft late.
Kansas City gets:  J Stalker, D1-25, E2-17, $250K
Texas gets:  E Kalp
The retooling continues.
D.C. gets:  D1-22, P Dozer
Long Island gets:  D1-14, E1-15, E4-9
Dozer's getting close to the tail end of his career, but the two-back set DC uses with Anderson and Dozer's going to be one of the league's best in 2010.
Portland gets:  E1-5, P Welker
Rocky Mountain gets:  G Clarke
Clarke kinda acted like he didn't want to be in Portland anymore, and now…he's not.
Fort Dodge gets:  R Odolfo, B Ungar, $500K
Spokane gets:  E1-14
The Eagles must have someone they're really looking at with the mid-E1 pick there.
Fort Dodge gets:  $1M
Rocky Mountain gets:  J Thompson
Roughriders doing their best to get out of debt, and they're very close at this point.
Corpus Christi gets:  E1-21
Minneapolis gets:  E4-8, E5-15, S Duncan
Minneapolis is aiming to get a team that's good for 2010, not 2011 and beyond.
Omaha gets:  D1-10
Tucson gets:  E1-1
Says a lot about the entry draft, doesn't it?
Omaha gets:  STL 2011 E1
Kansas City gets:  $2.5M, D2-1
And how does this help an Omaha team that really needs help in 2010?
St. Louis gets:  E2-17
Kansas City gets:  $550K
Decent trade here.
London gets:  $2M, P Reynolds
Los Angeles gets:  D1-4 (M Otis)
Otis is certainly a guy who has had incredible games for a team that didn't have much going for it.  But, he's probably not the type of player best suited for an expansion team.
Otis will play a lot of OS for the Predators while Reynolds logs in as London's starting RBLB right away.
Detroit gets:  M Phillips, D2-28
Long Island gets:  J Carper
I guess Detroit thought well enough of the Manny Phillips "experiment" to try it again.
Week 13 Update
St. Louis signs:
C Higgins
Buffalo gets:
C Bryant
Kansas City gets:
T Holmes
$1M
Holmes will be a good guy for the Tigers next year when they're smacked by financial pressures.  Buffalo wants to win now.
Connecticut cuts:
H Biggs
T Mercer
F Quintaro
J Duffy
C Allen
J Kilgallen
B Scott
J Weiss
A Carter
T Guest
R Rinehardt
They had more cuts, but three guys got real live offers from other teams, so there we go.
Texas gets:
D Schlosser
Houston gets:
A Fernandez
Evansville gets:
K Bynes
R Andrews
Connecticut gets:
Y Bamiyi
R Johnson
M Hines
The Squirrels continue to improve top to bottom.
Rocky Mountain gets:
L Wilson
Connecticut gets:
$1
Wilson went for a buck.  That beats a cut penalty.
Spokane gets:
S Stewart
A Stiles
Connecticut gets:
$75K
Little Al gets one more shot to play with a good team.  Not that he'll play much.
Texas gets:
T Jefferson
D Ellis
M Giguere
Connecticut gets:
T Castle
D Stubblefield
M Percival
$100K
Jefferson and Ellis were very tough to figure out whose offer was best.  But Castle's the best player I was offered for either player, so I had to go with this one.
Kansas City gets:
P Lambert
J Ruffin
Connecticut gets:
A Meshekow
J Jason
T Holmes
2011 E1
Tigers didn't screw around much here.  This is probably the toughest decision I've made yet with fire sales.  Getting rid of Ruffin's salary put it over the top.
Fort Dodge gets:
O Vernon
Connecticut gets:
M Pasqua
Vernon's a former Primetime player, so they know the guy a bit.  Good move.
Tucson gets:
M Kenton
Connecticut gets:
RM E4, E5
J Shields
A Demora
$300K
Kenton will help the back end of Tucson's roster quite a bit.
Vancouver Island gets:
D Morgan
F Holderbaum
St. Louis gets:
KC E3
$2M
2011 MIA E4
2011 VAN E4, E5
It's clear the Rush needed some cash and fast.  This trade was agreed to before the deadline, but medical issues prevented one owner from sending in in time.  It will be approved.
Vancouver Island gets:
S Craig
Baltimore gets:
J Mundane
$2M
Same issue - deal was approved beforehand but medical issues forced a late submission.
Baltimore signs:
J Quinn
T Guest
They already have Quinn in Joey Mundane, but I'll go with it.
Connecticut cuts:
M Pasqua
S Turner
J Marcius
No losses here.
Week 12 Update
Tampa Bay gets:
C Logan
Tucson gets:
RM E4, E5
Logan goes back to one of his former homes.
Miami gets:
K Leperton
Houston gets:
A Cooper
This is just an accounting move so to speak, getting guys to teams where their "skills" will be better used.
Kansas City signs:
A Meshekow
For when the shit hits the fan in the bank account, presumably.
Los Angeles gets:
C Soludo
M Baltzell
Connecticut gets:
P Lambert
S Nyer
2010 E1
2011 WAS E1
Lambert's a big time player; some would consider him better than Soludo, even.
Baltimore gets:
S Craig
Connecticut gets:
M Edminster
J Cade
H Boden
Boden is a long-time Breaker, but it's not like that's a championship quality.
Portland gets:
D Rowley
Connecticut gets:
S Stewart
L Wilson
R Little
$1,000,000
This is actually a fairly even trade.
Texas gets:
M Bell
T Cadet
Connecticut gets:
T Jefferson
J Kilgallen
J Cooper
2010 E5
$195K
Jefferson's a pretty solid player, let it be known.
Wisconsin gets:
G Robinson
Connecticut gets:
$275K
A Carter
Robinson isn't exactly a star, let's be honest.
Rocky Mountain gets:
D Sepulveda
Connecticut gets:
R Andrews
$250K
Not sure trading Andrews away really is that big a help, but Sepulveda is probably better.
Fort Dodge gets:
J Pritchett
Connecticut gets:
K Bynes
D Ellis
ND E3, E4
$100K
Pritchett is a former Lightning stalwart.  Fort Dodge desperately wants players like that, so they went and got one.
Detroit gets:
M Samuels
Connecticut gets:
M Kenton
F McNeil
O Vernon
Dennis is more than happy to make a strong bid to get something he covets.  If Druckenmiller were in his prime, the Eastern Conference would have just collectively shit itself.
Vancouver Island gets:
H Simpson
Connecticut gets:
M Giguere
$500K
WAS E2
The Vengeance didn't want to disrupt what they have going, but Simpson's a good looking young guy they got for cheap.
Spokane gets:
W Anderson
Connecticut gets:
W Wilkes
R Zorn
$1M
As of late, the Eagles haven't screwed around when making trades for upgrades.
Venice gets:
D Feist
Connecticut gets:
J Snider
A Stiles
C Allen
S Apple
$100K
Little Al doesn't want to go out like this, I'm sure, but he prolly should aretired a couple years ago.
Washington gets:
D Blankenship
Connecticut gets:
S Turner
B Scott
POR E2
What?
New Orleans gets:
C Prescott
Connecticut gets:
E3, E4
J Marcius
A good deal for the Storm.
Cedar Valley gets:
M Trask
Connecticut gets:
K Hopkins
Trask is a dependable backup for the Phantoms.
Week 11 Transactions
Miami signs:
A Anzune
C Robertson
T Boo
Miami cuts:
S Quessel
C Higgins
R Mays
Miami gets:
A Carter
S Butz
Kansas City gets:
R Moesly
Carter and Butz give Miami two very cheap guys who can still bring it a little bit.  And a little bit is more than anyone else on that roster.
Rocky Mountain gets:
K Smith
Houston gets:
$100K
Easy deal here.
Spokane gets:
M Workman
B Ungar
A Sandler
Houston gets:
B Lintner
G Intianiosmith
S Slabody
These are the only deals for these players that met the league's requirement of saving me money (they were offered individually, and all three matched).
HOU/MIA firesales
Sweet baby Jesus.
Long Island gets:
S Warren
Houston gets:
J Cornell
2011 E1
A rather quiet start to the festivities.
Portland gets:
R Marshall
Houston gets:
C Cross
POR E4, E5
VAN E5
Marshall's a QB of the future type guy, while Cross really isn't.
Cedar Valley gets:
G Peterson
K Kline
Houston gets:
$50K
S Walters
T Stark
C Logan
2011 E3
Phantoms didn't want to tip the boat too much, and really, they didn't.
Baltimore gets:
J Soames
Houston gets:
BAL E1
H Adcock
Might actually be a bit of an overpay for Balto here.
New England gets:
S Harlan
Houston gets:
K Lawhorne
E3, E4, E5
Nothing huge.
Kansas City gets:
R Cabreda
Houston gets:
2011 E2
Something for nothing for 18 months here.
Los Angeles gets:
R Ritter
Houston gets:
A Sandler
K Smith
D Schlosser
$3M
LA E2
The Predators really wanted their man, and they got him.
Detroit gets:
C Young
Houston gets:
M Razorman
B Ungar
LI E4
2011 STL E3
Not bad for the Gladiators here, either.

E Hice
M Coulier
M Horowitz
Houston gets:
WAS E2,3,4,5
TB E1,3,4
RM E1,2
HOU E1,3,4,5

FD E5
KC E5
2011 WAS E1,2,3
2011 POR E2
2011 VEN E2
J Huaman
J Kuenzle
K Cellar
J Kaleo (yes, really)
A Anarcho
J Jerrett
Holy shit.
Wisconsin gets:
L Bullocks
Miami gets:
J George
G Jamison
$250K
Harvey helps a little there.
Kansas City gets:
J Zagadaneca
Miami gets:
D Kozlowski
B McElroy
2011 E5
Zagadaneca shores up KC's biggest weakness.
Baltimore gets:
D Vuich
Miami gets:
BAL E3
S Braun
Vuich is a surprise that he got an offer.
Portland gets:
D Bonner
R Gardner
Miami gets:
S Fox
R Ghiraldi
M Haas
J Roberson
S Turner
Hey, why not?
Rocky Mountain gets:
CV E1
MIA E1
Miami gets:
J Lofton
P Welker
B Lewis
J Quinn
R Brindle
2011 MIA E2
$3.5M
This is a strong offer combined for the picks.
Detroit gets:
KC and TEX E1
Miami gets:
$1M
You'd think Uhl was back, what with someone in Detroit buying E1s.
D.C. gets:
J Tate
Miami gets:
J Romano
J Fingers
M Booker
2011 E4
Tate's a basketcase, but one that can play football.
Washington gets:
P Matos
Miami gets:
SF and HOU E2
Oh, what the heck?  Let's get another guy.
St. Louis gets:
D Morgan
Miami gets:
B Pendergrass
L Higgins
S Bond
E Haskins
Morgan will help the Rush a bit here.
Omaha gets:
J Loria
MIA E3
Miami gets:
$300K
M Cranston
Loria's certainly a qualified rebuilding QB expert.
Long Island gets:
$400K
Miami gets:
S Driggers
This would be a first.
Venice gets:
A Reight
Miami gets:
$400K
Oh, what the heck?
Detroit gets:
J Cornell
Houston gets:
S Nelson
2010 E1
Cornell's the type of receiver the Gladiators have needed for years.
Tucson gets:
H Adcock
Houston gets:
K Leperton
$50K
Adcock gives Tucson another "true" WRDB threat.
Tucson gets:
C Logan
Houston gets:
$50K
Well, actually, Tucson does need a little veteran leadership.
Buffalo gets:
K Stanford
Houston gets:
2011 E1
2010 E2, E4, E5
B Cameron
$2.5M
Buffalo isn't content with what they got, it appears.
Rocky Mountain gets:
P Welker
Miami gets:
S Berensmeyer
$200K
I like it.
Spokane gets:
R Odolfo
Miami gets:
A Cooper
This deal does cut salary, and the only other offers were cash (not a need) and James Shields outta TUC.
Cedar Valley gets:
J Porter
Miami gets:
R Moesly
I figure Moesly will get an offer elsewhere, anyways.
Spokane gets:
S Fox
Miami gets:
C Berrenta
Tucson gets:
J Lofton
Miami gets:
P Bucar
$200K
Not sure how Lofton's skill set fits in in Tucson.
Evansville cuts:
A Meshekow
Week 10 Update
The calm before the storm…at the top of this week's updates, anyways.
Portland signs:
S Stewart
They need a QB now.
Rocky Mountain signs:
B Lewis
How does he keep getting work?
Cedar Valley gets:
2010 E1
T Meyers
San Antonio gets:
H Blessig
Blessig is the best player here, but not by a huge margin, and the Phantoms will get another contributor in next year's draft for it.
Week 9 Update
Remember, I'm going to be throwing incentive payments in there for all teams this week.  So some teams will have a rather large bill on their hands.
Spokane signs:
T Revedo
Depth is desperately needed in Spokane now.
D.C. signs:
T Dean
D McCallister
D.C. cuts:
C Robertson
A Anzune
Not bad here.
Baltimore cuts:
V Garrenton
We're not looking at much exciting here.

Y Bamiyi
Rocky Mountain gets:
R Andrews
When trading a kicker is the biggest move of the week, it's a slow week.
Venice gets:
$700K
Spokane gets:
B Lintner
C Berrenta
No doubt, the Eagles are beyond desperate for line depth.
Washington gets:
2011 E2
I Varner
Venice gets:
D Pollock
Not a bad deal either way.
St. Louis cuts:
A Watts
Long Island cuts:
C O'Shea
Evansville cuts:
A Mickles
North Dakota cuts:
S Stewart
Just moves to clear up 29-man rosters.
Miami cuts:
B Lewis
B Downing
S Morrow
Okay, Morrow probably wasn't necessary…but how does Perry Jennings stay on an OIFL roster.  Trying to be like the Browns won't earn you points with me this year, Mike.
Week 8 Update
Wisconsin gets:
2011 E4
$150K
St. Louis gets:
J Hornbrook
The first of a number of deals, I'm sure.
St. Louis signs:
A Watts
Well, they have to have someone to back up Ogden.
Long Island gets:
M Lee
Washington gets:
P Yee
2011 E4, E5
FD E5
Good deal both ways.
Spokane sends to North Dakota:
D McMasters
This finishes the Avery deal.
Portland rescinds the Zach Degan trade.

J Fingers
St. Louis gets:
B Pendergrass
And he finds another home.  To play backup.  Again.
St. Louis gets:
A Mizerak
Long Island gets:
2011 E1
K Bazziel
$500K
Now the Rush think "oh, why'd we trade for Pendergrass, too?"
Vancouver Island gets:
A Morrow
Portland gets:
C Cross
2010 E2, E5
Pioneers grew tired of Morrow's continued failure in big moments.  He's strictly a backup in the great white north when Sauk gets back.
Vancouver Island signs:
J Mundane
Good backup.
Vancouver Island gets:
CS E2
2011 HOU E3
Washington gets:
J Baez
Interesting trade.  Would think the Vengeance would be looking to add talent.
Wisconsin gets:
$5M
2011 E2, E3
Tampa Bay gets:
W Krystle
This will end the league's involvement with the Warlords franchise, though I'll be working with Harvey to get some other salary considerations worked on.
New Orleans gets:
J Groves
Wisconsin gets:
$3M
Okay, I lied.  Couldn't turn down more cash for a guy that won't be in Wisconsin when they get better anyways.
Wisconsin cuts:
W Tyler
T Revedo
D McCallister
M Jenks
J Eliot
D Mays
F Jordan
T Dean
Wisconsin signs:
A Carter
R Herbert
K Ammen
